@dancharvey @nicolasnova I think they do a full live recording of the amphiteatre and release that end of day. So I would expect around 8pm.

@jennyshen @luckykat Coach is not a protected professional title so I get how there are many coaches out there with different outlooks. I studied with ICF so my view of coaching is exactly as I described. In this realm coaching is closer to CBT, but not for mental health issues.
@jennyshen @luckykat Here is a PDF describing how International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching: …tothefullcoaching.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/icf-co…
@jennyshen @luckykat I have coached people in professions that I am no expert in. And I have hired my own coach who knows little about design, and is younger :)
@jennyshen @luckykat But I will agree that not all people who call themselves coaches will accept this definition.
@jennyshen @luckykat Also, to be clear. I am not against mentoring in any way. Sometimes I combine these roles, but I will be clear in every session if I am stepping out of my coaching role. That is part of the ethics. For me, the power of coaching, active listening, has been mind-shifting.

@jennyshen @luckykat In coaching the answers come from the coachee, and there is no hierarchy. In mentoring there is an assumed ”experienced” vs ”inexperienced” relationship, the assumption being a transfer of knowledge from the mentor.
@jennyshen @luckykat Coaching looks at you as a whole person, whereas mentoring is more often looking at the professional situation only.

So happy to have found a like-minded coach and designer in Katja @luckykat Forbes. Awesome talk!
Now follow her.

Really looking forward to this talk by @luckykat ”You’re not a designer, you’re a coach!” #IxD18

Every time I get "Something is technically wrong" on Twitter I think of @sara_ann_marie's book and say out loud... "No, it does not look like you're fixing it. And what the hell is normal!?"
#designethics
Ps. Also, what a brilliant marketing page for the book this is! 👊

My mind is now blending the history of the tech that has brought us here, as presented expertly by @nicolasnova right now, with @MrAlanCooper's talk yesterday about being a good ancestor. Amazing stuff.
This is how you can tell a conference is well-curated. #ixd18
So many people at #IxD18 have been asking me about the templates I use in my @Misusability workshop, I decided to make them publicly available. I hope you can put them to good use:

@jasonmesut Yes, figuring this all out as I’m writing about it ;)
The simple example is that outcome is more concerned with things like increased conversions/visits/downloads, while impact means looking at health/privacy/well-being issues and can also expand to effects on the planet.
@jasonmesut I’ll be sharing the worksheets from my workshop online before the end of the conference, but also have a look at impactmanagementproject.com
Of course @MrAlanCooper killed it today. Still processing but I believe this is my top takeaway:
”We can not keep regulating symptoms and artefacts, we need to legislate impact.”
#ixd18
@MrAlanCooper In truth, @MrAlanCooper used the word ”outcome” but since I differentiate between outcome and impact I tweaked it to fit my models ;)

Another favorite Alan quote from today:
”Technology changes so fast it renders our good intentions irrelevant.”
#ixd18 #designethics
More food for thought:
”Every Monday morning a green truck comes and takes my trash away, but there is no ’away’.”
#ixd18
So: ”To be a good ancestor you need to consider the entire lifespan of your work.” #ixd18
@muppetaphrodite Really awesome talk. Thank you. Loved the attention to solving the right problem, pursuing the truth and highlighting problem areas. Also all the cartooning/sketching insights. 🙌 #ixd18
