Remember when we used to add ”RT” manually to indicate a re-tweet? Imagine how much that tiny bit of friction actually discouraged the sharing of false stories. Because it added thinking to the process. And it made you own the tweet, as the source on your timeline.

I Was Looking for Africa’s Biggest Electronics Dump but Found a Community of Creators Instead, by @felipethejourno medium.com/@felipearaujo2…

Thoroughly enjoyed The End of the F***ing World on @Netflix. I like creative work that forces me to think.

Had to leave for the airport yesterday and missed @LeylaAcaroglu's ending keynote. Watching it now. Thank you @ixdconf for enabling this.❤️
And thank you Leyla.

1/ Yes, ethics is important but can also be misleading. Delighted the #designethics discussion is truly under way but be aware that "ethics theory" can be used to motivate any number of different paths. We need to be better at focusing on evaluating the IMPACT of our decisions.
2/ So, rather than talking/arguing about what is the ethical path and start running down it, I believe there needs to be greater consensus on what impact we are striving for, what we want to AVOID, and HOW we will keep an eye on it to MANAGE it over time.
#designethics
3/ That then being, ironically, the only ethical path I will agree to ;)
4/ Honestly, I tend to give the advice that people avoid the word ethics when they want to make a difference inside orgs, as it triggers any number of different connotations that inhibit conversation. Better: talk about how we can best avoid contributing to harm.
5/ The greater challenge is creating a broader understanding of all the different ways both people and planet can be harmed by design. And that, in my mind, is something we all need to start helping each other with. Through better listening.

@McAndrewFiona Hi Fiona! Yeah, finding people in a sea of 1,000 attendees wasn't always easy =) Hope we'll get a new chance soon!

@dsjunnesson We discussed GDPR on last Friday’s episode of @UXpodcast - I think I had also expected to see more of it. Many seem unaware, both inside and outside EU. #ixd18 uxpodcast.com/177-gdpr-heath… #gdpr

During the Interaction 18 conference I have received a wave of positive feedback related to my worksheets for managing misusability and supporting an ethical, sustainable and inclusive mindset in any design process. I am deeply grateful for all the conversations and the opportunity for me to present my ideas in workhop format as well as individually for the curious-minded.
I decided to make these worksheets publicly available as part of my efforts to support responsible innovation whenever possible.
And yes, they are obviously a central part of my book in progress.

@davecalleja Thank you! Feedback is exactly what I want. I need to think about this some more, but I hope the n/a users would be covered by ”non-participants”. The unwanted section I want to encourage conscious design of adding friction to ”protect”.
@davecalleja Or, in fact: it does cover non-applicable users in the sense that those people would potentially be harmed by spending unnecessary time on/in the solution, hence we need to make them more aware of why they shouldn’t sign up.
@davecalleja I have an example of this but now need to get out of bed and ready for day 3 of #IxD18 😀

In some areas of business the concept of pursuing a ”win-win” situation seems to have morphed into pursuing a ”win-what.just.happened” situation.

@jennyshen @luckykat Was just gonna say: Yes, it’s really the same type of confusion as ”UX” is now bringing to the table. We probably need a better shared vocabulary. 😀
@airfrance Tried to add luggage to my check-in. The connection aborted. When I get connection again and log in it says I'm already checked in. Now I can't add the luggage. Can you help me? I don't want to pay the higher fee at the airport. Flight is tomorrow.
