You're all special and make me a better person. But the algorithm really, really doesn't. I'll see you when I see you. Take care.❤️

@Hilaryonline It's a mess. We have 21 self-governing regions all with unique ideas and strategies for public transport payment systems. Many people are being excluded and the "respected" studies on digital inclusion do not include non-Swedish speakers or people with low literacy skills.
@Hilaryonline Honestly it makes me furious just thinking about it. In my talks I often say that digitalisation has taken away abilities for so many people who only 10-15 years ago had no trouble independently riding public transport, and now can't, or experience huge negative stress doing it.

@shaun_gomm @Nexer_Digital I know I’d enjoy that wholeheartedly 😊

@shaun_gomm @Nexer_Digital ❤️ Wow, its been so long now!! Such a super event. I had so much fun talking to everyone. Miss this.

@HERO_Respondi I use Metatext on iPhone which comes well recommended. metabolist.org

@annavkraft @Cozyn3rd @LeoR1011 Jag är inte förtjust i de officiella apparna ännu som uppenbart har barnsjukdomar. Rekommenderar Tusky på Android och Metatext på iOS.

@augmentedrobot Cool! So you created an extra account there? :) I need to follow the right account!
↪ Replying to @augmentedrobot
@augmentedrobot Haha cool. Yes, this is my third time trying Mastodon but the small instances I joined previously are dead now 😅 Having my own instance truly feels like the way to go for me now.
@augmentedrobot Followed you now :)

@HERO_Respondi Just hope you noted that you had to write your join request in Swedish ;)
↪ Replying to @HERO_Respondi
@HERO_Respondi Very valid questions. If you don't know that you'll stay, maybe join mastodon.se to begin with, before you invest money. You can always create a Tankespjärn one later and move the account there. Some people regularly move between instances.
@HERO_Respondi And when you move your account to another instance you can maintain follows/followers.

@obeka Ja man ska nog undvika någon av apparna första gången man skapar konto. :)

@ethicsconsult Hopefully I'll find time to blog, but in short I'm finding other people there, some who have been there for years and some who are just "moving in". Totally different vibe, giving me that nostalgic feeling of early internet where people were curious together. Very respectful.

@beantin @uxpodcast This is true. Part of it is also seeing how the people I follow are influenced by algorithms, itself contributing how they engage on the platform. My hypothesis is that you have to be really well organised, aware and in control to make good use of lists.
↪ Replying to @unknown
@Loukas_RS 1. Default timeline, non-chronological and designed to promote engagement/enragement
2. My likes influencing what others see, (meaning my behavior towards them is affected)
3. Others are also affected by the algorithm, which means they behave differently than they otherwise would
↪ Replying to @tsvenson
@tsvenson This is fair. A restart is likely a big contributor as well. But the sense is that most people on here are affected by algorithms meaning they behave differently than they otherwise would. Including myself.
I don't think I can do this site anymore. It's insane how clearly the algorithm messes with us once you go algorithm-free. Chilling. 😬
Yes, the algorithm-free experience is Mastodon. It's absolutely mindblowing how different my mind, body and emotions are in check when active there rather than here. I know there are huge obstacles to entry (usability-wise) but I'm really hoping I can contribute to improve that.
To be clear: I'm also not naive. It's a system where people talk to each other and sometimes anonymously. There will be trashfires. Tip: choose a small instance or run your own. Avoid large ones that naturally carry more noise. At least trashfires aren't algorithmically rewarded.
I've just updated my Mastodon guide with a list of instances at the bottom, as a first quick reference for people having a hard time choosing. Perhaps easier to browse a decently short list than search among thousands 😁
(You can always move later)
