Facebook often emphasises "we do not sell your data" and then lets advertisers target vulnerable teenagers. But few ask if they *buy* data. Yael's thread in Jessica's follow-up tweet was also good.

1) greatly reduces the amount of data points they can collect about you
2) reduces the platform's influence over your behavior 👀
3) reduces their overall power (more people outside will force companies to invest in other places)
@ifindkarma @ishyamo @jessicamalonso I agree we can not avoid being identified online by tech giants, but I believe it can be misleading to give the impression that the amount of data collection non-FB users are subjected to is anything near the amount of daily users. Also, the data collection is only part of it :)
Just bought An Ugly Truth by @sheeraf and @ceciliakang. As always I love looking at book titles in different languages. In this case I'm also intrigued by the different choices of Mark photos.
