I think it’s important to remember that Zuckerberg is showing up and responding according to his belief system, but also to questions that don’t have yes/no answers.
The format of hearings give little time for problematization of complex issues, but he’s there and trying.

I’m not a fan of Facebook, but I feel the sound bites making the rounds in social media contribute to polarisation based on too little information and obvious knowledge gaps. We need to work on the knowledge gaps, and our own confirmation bias.

To truly understand this racial bias problem you have to understand that race was never part of the algorithm. Instead, makers of the system fail to take into account the markers of racial bias that are already in the data they are using.
