@callenet @Emil_Mauritzson For the schools/teams aspect I would love to move people to something like Allies. But some groups I decided to just quit. In the end, I still have tons of interesting conversations, just elsewhere.

@Science_glamour In this case it was not the use of gifs per se that I reacted most strongly to, but the joking and laughing about a neurological disorder. That said, there are people who are vulnerable to to photo-sensitive seizures. For example: telegraph.co.uk/technology/201…
@Science_glamour Generally, it is the pace of flashing animation that will pose dangers. Accessibility guidelines talk about not flashing anything more than 3 times per second. Color often matters as well, red being the worst cuprit. Here's a good walkthrough: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web…

@brightspaceux Rather than pass blame, my intent is to shine light on conditions that are obscure. I believe a lot of people feel too much guilt over individual actions that are difficult to avoid because of systemic conditions. And this is part of the harm(!)
@brightspaceux In my ethics class I stress that every action that one thinks to regret is an opportunity to share, discuss, learn and plan for alternative paths.

@math_rachel @marykinva I've started calling this convenience obscurity. I'm certainly prone to it myself. The idea is that when something becomes very convenient for one group of people - often the already privileged - they find it harder and harder to see how it harms others, or even themselves.
