One concern that suddenly hit me is that if @ivory app doesn't allow people not using Mastodon software to log in, will they allow to click follow on people who are not on Mastodon?
Hardcoding a block for certain ActivityPub/Fediverse software seems like it can cause all sorts of both technical and exclusionary issues.

Det Àr ett helvete att det har fÄtt gÄ sÄ hÀr lÄngt och att det tydligen inte finns nÄgra som helst ramar de mÄste hÄlla sig inom. KonsumentvÀgledaren sa i princip att det inte finns nÄgra grÀnser alls för hur lÄnga avtal man kan lura in folk i. "Det Àr inte prövat."
Tomorrow (Jan 25) Iâm on Swedish national radio getting worked up about the subscription terms for Swedenâs most renowned financial newspaper, Dagens industri.
Wrote about this in February of 2020 (yes, 3 years ago) and they are now finally being investigated by the Swedish Consumer Agency.
Hundreds of people have contacted me over these years to express distress over the large sums of money they are being locked into paying.

In case anyone is wondering, the @ivory app will currently only work with Mastodon servers, no other Fediverse software.
I got the error message âCouldn't Create Account. We currently only support Mastodon servers.â

The idea is still the same đ. A widget (that all blogs in the webring implement) where the reader can page forward and backward between blogs, or jump to a random one.

Seeing people talk about #webrings again and it's bringing tears of joy to my eyes. We need more connections that circumvent big tech and webrings can potentially provide powerful gateways to niche subject areas.

My personal challenge right now is finding a way to join many webrings in a coherent way. Will sit down and have a think about this.
Hope @ivory, @icecubesapp and others don't forget about those of us not using Mastodon and consider feature sets that stretch beyond Mastodon's limits.
But mostly I hope they put #accessibility front and center, not adding it clumsily as an afterthought.

This is super interesting, thank you for tagging me. After my migration last week I had 1,000 followers listed (down from before migration). By my approximation only about 20-25 of those could actually see my posts. It took me a while to figure this out.
All followers were (as expected) listed as following me. But essentially everyone had what natbas is describing, a pending follow request. I also donât have, and never have had, approval of follows activated.
So when follow requests fail, they get queued, and it tends to look like this. People who follow you think youâre not approving their request and you yourself think theyâre following you, because that is what their profile says. Very frustrating.
How long it will take for servers to try and renegotiate will vary but I have heard mention to me that Mastodon servers will stop trying after a week and then be stuck in this state.

@lee I canât remember if we talked about it back on Twitter, Lee, but Iâm a huge fan of your work. Your RSS and Wiki videos of course, but I also really appreciated the Art of Explanation as well as Big Enough. The former is definitely a primary reason I started making more explainer videos for clients which has been a huge success.
My first explainer video, almost 11 years ago now, was just sketches and hands pulling in those sketches (though all digital rather than true CommonCraft style).
That video explained the goal of a project (a national behavioral therapy platform for Sweden) with how people were using and managing this future product.
It took 3 years to develop the tool and when we were done it could do everything in that video and even the rough sketches matched the interface. That blev my mind. It was such a powerful tool for bringing a common vision to the team, where different devs came and went through the years.
When I hear you mention a platform I know youâve done your due diligence :)
