@buildchimp Yeah I don’t like killing permalinks so my account will be left as it is. And I actually do automate links to my blog posts over there for the time being. I just never log in to interact or read anymore. It’s wonderful how healing it is.

@PavelASamsonov I used to have a text replacement shortcut that typed my handle.
But now I just copy and paste the url of a profile or toot into the search box on my own instance to access it "locally". I think that works for most use-cases?
@emilymbender My advice would be to migrate from mastodon.social (which is the biggest by far, as it is the one most people tend to choose by default). That server will always struggle when there is an onslaught of signups (and is why they turned off new signups for now). Significantly smaller instances don’t struggle wth this and I would even say they are a preferred choice because there is less noise in local feeds.

If you are on desktop you can activate the Advanced Web Interface and start building your own setup with custom columns for hashtags and lists.
This will feel familiar to users of Tweetdeck.
My next newsletter will obviously be about the current social media chaos. There is just so much to reflect on and link to, even the newsletter is a bit chaotic right now.
But I feel confident I'll get it down to something coherent and relatively brief within a day or two.

Very few tools out there allow you to enter your Mastodon account as part of your social media presence. If you are in a position to influence that, go for it.
