You get a random address and don't have to reveal your own.

@PavelASamsonov For those of us with standard date syntax we have one next year as well. 2021-12-02. 😝
Happy #PalindromeDay!
20200202
Today also true even when you write dates in that confusing non-standard way of 02022020. 🤪
Apparently quite special as it is the first time in over 900 years it's true for every date format (last time 1111-11-11).
Also, it's the 33rd day of the year with 333 days left (yes, it's a leap year).

Within minutes two different people sent me written accounts of tech gone wrong and people being harmed by a redesign or just having to leave a service because of bad usability.
The rate at which we can start harming people is now made ever more efficient with automation. Yay...
”For many products and services, we can’t pick a set of metrics at the outset and say, “Ok, that’s how we’ll always measure success.” If we do that, we’ll lock ourselves into a simplified notion of success. That’s how we unintentionally leave a door open for competitors to steal our business from us.
Our metrics need to grow as our understanding of our users grows. And with every growth spurt, we’ll become one step closer to a design-mature organization.”

@danachis @cydharrell I've been recommending our interviews with both of you to my students and they've been really excited to learn there is even something called civic design / civic tech. Sounds like a number of them are looking to get involved here in Sweden 👊
Pondering an ethics game for the students. Anyone know of an online service where you enter options for a spin-the-wheel game to pick one at random (more fun than just randomizing and displaying an option).

@WolfgangBremer The guy with the helmet throwing it to the ground and getting ready to jump in and save people. ❤️
You can learn so much about the driving force behind a company, and their values, by being a user/customer and seeing how they manage an intent to leave.
I’m going to start asking more about the offboarding before signing up to anything in the future.
Obviously @mrmacleod understood this much better than me many years ago 😁

@callenet @Emil_Mauritzson For the schools/teams aspect I would love to move people to something like Allies. But some groups I decided to just quit. In the end, I still have tons of interesting conversations, just elsewhere.

@callenet @Emil_Mauritzson My kids are so old now though that we don’t have that coordination/logistics need.
”How are you coping without Facebook, Per?”
”Oh right, I almost forgot I left... So zero feelings actually.”
True story.

@Science_glamour I honestly don't believe you have need to worry about your animation, but it's always good to have this risk back of mind.

@Science_glamour In this case it was not the use of gifs per se that I reacted most strongly to, but the joking and laughing about a neurological disorder. That said, there are people who are vulnerable to to photo-sensitive seizures. For example: telegraph.co.uk/technology/201…
@Science_glamour Generally, it is the pace of flashing animation that will pose dangers. Accessibility guidelines talk about not flashing anything more than 3 times per second. Color often matters as well, red being the worst cuprit. Here's a good walkthrough: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web…
