@BrizaPie And different across countries (“Canceled” is the US spelling). I remember as a kid how I loved hunting for words that didn’t adhere to the rule “i before e except after c”.

@echristensen42 That's the issue. In the US "canceled" is more common, in the UK "cancelled" is more common. I used to do American spelling all through school, but in the last 10 years I've become more mixed. Probably I'm more frustrated with my own inconsistency...

@Cennydd But would be interesting to see how much the US spelling has proliferated across various regions in the world. I attended an American school in Saudia Arabia, with American teachers, and for some reason was taught the double "l" spelling.
I always struggle to decide if I should spell it travelled or traveled, cancelled or canceled. Grammar guides are no help, because they just say "keep your audience in mind" as if I should know what percentage of each preference reads my tweets. But out of curioisity...
