@MarkoSaric We have a Swedish electronic communication law that states “Info can be stored or retrieved from a user’s terminal equipment only if the user is given info about the purpose of use and consents to it”… how does this affect needed consent for Plausible in your mind?
I’m thinking consent may be necessary even if the ip address is anonymized, since it is retrieved at one point?
Obviously I have to check this with legal expertise, but would be interesting to hear your take.

I will add this and/or a similar video to the curriculum of my Digital Ethics course. I believe it’s increasingly important to understand the material required for digital products. I want to create more safe spaces and time to talk about these issues.

@martinmodigh Thanks, I think my biggest challenge is the best way to kill the script that triggers the infinite scroll.

Thinking many people are oblivious to how sensitive it can be to disclose a mobile phone number. It’s a unique identifier that rarely changes. It can be used to track. It can be used to harass. Yet so easily thrown around and on display in digital services.
When you do research, what types of efforts do you put into protecting the identity of research subjects? Thinking of local storage vs cloud storage, anonymization of transcripts and file names, designated data storage responsible (and responsible for deletion in X weeks)? More?
I never write names in my notes. I know that’s not always enough not to be able to de-anonymize data. But it’s a good start. It’s also worth mentioning to people, to help them feel safer in the interview situation. Using pseudonyms works as well.
Digital tools can make things so much more complex. Recently I pointed out the need for anonymization on a wiki, upon which that bit of information was changed. But a wiki saves all edits, that’s sort of its selling point. Need to remember to delete history as well.
