@callenet Also see this follow-up though. I will be updating my blog post (as seen in the thread) to reflect this information. YouTube adds to LocalStorage instead - and still keeps an eye on viewers despite no consent.

It looks like I was misleading people with my posts about youtube-nocookie yesterday. Once you click play, YouTube pretty much disregards the nocookie-option. Of course YouTube was never going to respect the wishes of you as publisher or the viewer. 🤥

@amybphd For various reasons I've had similar 'problems'. The many stray itineraries kept showing flight info in my Google calendar. I'd be 'apparently my flight to New York leaves in an hour'. Then I realised the brilliance of feeding Google misinformation. It's very confused about me 😅
@amybphd But then I also get worried about police using Google data and placing me in locations I haven't been...

I clarified how to embed YouTube videos without cookies in this blog post:

If you are embedding a YouTube video you should be using the domain that ensures no tracker cookies are set. That domain is youtube-nocookie.com.
So if the default embed-URL is youtube.com/embed/W7rJp2Tx…
you should change it to
youtube-nocookie.com/embed/W7rJp2Tx…

The reason I added the tweet in an image is because in some Twitter clients the URLs will be replaced by short links and then people won't be able to see the URLs, which is key to understanding this tweet :)
This isn't a "hack" by the way. It's actually Google's official domain for just this (which I imagine they have implemented under pressure - it's very difficult to comply with GDPR without it). They've just done a good job of hiding this functionality. Blog post underway.

@LenaLeigert Twitter är väldigt annorlunda som jag ser det. Man har tillgång till människor på ett annat sätt, utan att behöva vara "vänner". Det är också enkelt att "mute":a och blockera vid behov. Teckenbegränsningen spelar roll, men inte uppenbart hur alltid :) Lite mer "Keep it simple."

@mgjesdal I've set up a newsletter that I send out 3-4 times a year to family and friends. It actually helps me connect to more people, as many older relatives do not have Facebook. It often sparks a one-to-one convo with someone I haven't talked to in a long time.
Second step in closing my Instagram account is downloading all my data. Not gonna lie, leaving Insta is for some reason more emotionally taxing for me than deleting my FB account was. At the same time I'm happy about the time I'll spend with more intent.
