@JaredFossey @andend_co Yes, it’s so obvious isn’t it… this experience makes it less likely I’ll return as a customer or recommend to others, not more.
I'm pretty sure this design is used for anyone wanting to cancel a subscription. Don't worry about me, I made it through. ✌️
Happy to host a workshop about a better way of doing it though. x.com/AdobeCare/stat…

@yessshir @Adobe @AdobeXD So much this. I'm waiting for them to ask me how likely it is I would recommend them to a friend.
Good thread on @SocialDilemma_ - Shoshana changed my mind on several points. Her point about misinformation in a doc about misinformation is 🔥 We need to define addiction, marketing and advertising when talking about them. And obvi not let these dudes control the narrative! x.com/swodinsky/stat…
To be clear, these were not the points I changed my mind on ;) I never thought these guys should control the narrative. 😑
I wrote about the need to nuace 'tech addiction' last year.

What she did change my mind on was Lanier's description of gradual changes in behavior being the product. We also need to remember that we still carry autonomy. Our sense of wellbeing is part of a larger societal picture and the success of these platforms are not in a vacuum.
Also, Don Draper. None of this is new. But the power is globalized, centralized and with more privacy issues. I always think of it as as the extreme version of Hidden Persuaders (that 1957 book by Vance Packard).
So this is how it's gonna be now when cancelling, @Adobe @AdobeXD. FOUR pages (!) of holding me back and trying to convince me to stay? These practices are an embarassment to the design industry.

Seeing reports of people's following lists on Twitter suddenly dropping to zero over the past hour or so. What's going on?

@tsvenson @RachelWenitsky Some people in responses to Rachel did think it was real. Some have since deleted their tweets.
This made me LOL. But also weep. Where is that laughing crying emoji again? twitter.com/rachelwenitsky/status/…
↪ Replying to @KeyaArati
@KeyaArati Good point. We assume we know how people are when we see updates on Facebook. When instead we ask, we assume we do not know, and become better listeners. When we listen for real, people are willing to be more open.

@KeyaArati Thanks for sharing! Tha lack of friction is an important point when it comes to Facebook. Has LinkedIn played a role in these contacts?

Loving my world clock. It makes me reflect on all my friends across the world.

This should hopefully surprise fewer and fewer people. twitter.com/harrybr/status/1307945…
Here's Vinay running tests on that Twitter bias. While I believe the first dataset isn't necessarily representative of real-world examples (always plain white backgrounds in this data) it's good that more tests are being run and that it's open source. x.com/vinayprabhu/st…
Twitter are also going to open source their work: x.com/lizkelley/stat…
One big issue for me is also the lack of user control in this.

@designdrunkard No need to apologise! I enjoy understanding different perspectives. This time we were on the same page though :)
↪ Replying to @designdrunkard
@designdrunkard True. I also think many treatments to addictions specifically are assisted by finding another activity to spend that time on. And we certainly don't spend enough time considering what activities do promote our wellbeing.
Twitter is not perfect for nuances ☺️
