@gfscstudio Agreed. But when it's addressed towards changing people's behavior to, for example, create habits to decrease fossil fuel consumption, is it always good to nudge people without their awareness simply because it's for a good cause?

There is always the added complexity of people being sidetracked by society for so long they consider themselves unworthy of being treated better. Acceptance by target groups does not equal ethical...

@ztopiapub I think we should stay away from gmail if we can ;) But also, adding more features like this has the risk of adding complexity that is of value to tech savvy people and contributes to the digital divide.
@ztopiapub Systemically I think we need more friction and reflection. Like how postage fees work. Consider if it costs 5 cents to send an e-mail to a person... would you do it as often? Not saying that is the solution, but I do believe friction is our friend.

This always translates to ”we track our readers without informed consent so can’t make our texts available in the EU”. Everything is relative, even the news outlets’ sense of responsibility in the bigger picture...

@KoloKennethK I was at home 8 months with my first child. 6 months with my second. For perspective. But that was when their mother went back to work after 6-8 months of her parental leave. I also had 14 days at home after birth. This was 17 years ago.

@mulegirl Captions FTW. It’s how kids in Sweden become proficient in English. Although in our case it’s subtitles rather than captions. Or actually, kids tend to progress from subtitles (translation) to captions (text version of speech) as tweenagers. I have no data on this. 😂
