@Liveotherwise This is true. Even if I say "web address" a lot of people do not know. In the best of worlds they shouldn't have to. In the end we can only do what we can to help considered choices. The endgame here I guess would be a "do not track" setting on devices that includes url strings.

Clean URLs from tracking content.
When you copy URLs to share with others they often contain tracking details (stuff after the question mark, known as "query string"). In most cases you can just delete all of that to remove the tracking, or use a free tool like this that does it for you:

@kazarnowicz Very on point 😬 You’re right of course. As we have seen with the invasion of Ukraine, shock is rarely enough either. We can’t stop the evil when we have made ourselves dependent on its output. It’s all intertwined. I remember the shock of the Crimean Peninsula invasion in 2014. Not just by the action, but by the inaction. And then the world shrugged and carried on and countries decided to make themselves more dependent on the invader.

⚠️ Oblivious cultural regression / racism
I'm exporting subscribers from Revue to move away from the platform. The message I get is:
"We'll set our Oompa Loompas to work on exporting your subscribers and they'll send you an email once they're finished."
Why is this phrasing a problem? Well, because in the original Roald Dahl book, the Oompa Loompas were black slave laborers imported from Africa.

When I left Facebook a couple of years ago I shared this article referencing research indicating how what we want doesn't always make us happy.
It resurfaced in my consciousness today, as it's a wicked problem I'd like to work more on. The economy is designed to reward people with that they want. But wants can be engineered. Consciously or unconsciously. How can the system accommodate this disconnect without becoming paternalistic?

Det skulle förstås kunna vara så att man petar på namnet, men designmässigt vill jag ju gärna ge hjälp till användaren att förstå att det finns mer information.
Just noticing today I can set the language for posts in the web interface! But it would appear most apps haven't updated with this feature yet. Seems this would solve a lot of my worry about people being able to filter out my Swedish posts or vice versa.

Det finns inte på samma sätt som Twitter. En huvudsaklig anledning till det (baserat på vad jag sett på Github när utveckling diskuterats) är hur ofta just den funktionen bidragit till trakasserier på Twitter: man lyfter en tweet och gör narr av någon.

QR code login are becoming very common in Sweden, which is problematic in itself.
