Tidigt i morse somnade vår älskade franska bulldog Rusa in efter att drabbats av akuta smärtor i måndags som till slut inte gick att vända. Jag känner mig trasig och söndergråten. Helvete vilken bedrövelse, saknad och urkraft det finns i sorgen efter en förlorad livskramrat.
Ni behöver inte kommentera detta. Såklart är hjärtan välkomna, men jag menar bara att egentligen tänkte jag först inte skriva något här men sedan kändes det plötsligt konstigt att inte markera händelsen i något av mina flöden.
I juni skulle hon ha fyllt tio år. Nu kryper jag tillbaka in i sorgearbetet, det får ta den tid det tar.

“I always make sure I have bail money!” Fletcher replied emphatically, as if this should be the most obvious thing in the world.

I never wonder anymore how so many could be silently complicit, because I'm seeing it happen.
And what the tech führers of today are saying out in the open, regularly and with a straight face, about their disdain for non-white and non-western cultures and people, is not stopping democratic governments from embedding the führers' ideologically driven software in public institutions.
What I see moving fast is not technology itself but rather the dismantling of democracy and the exploitation and abuse of the underserved, marginalized and minoritized.

Yesterday’s newsletter from Ed Zitron was a free one. It’s always interesting to follow the numbers that Zitron breaks down in these newsletters.
- Data centers are planned but not getting built (AI compute demand is being inflated).
- NVIDIA Is selling years’ worth of GPUs in advance and warehousing them.
- For every paid dollar to Anthropic, Anthropic is spending anywhere between 8 to 13 dollars. A business very much dependent on a steady stream of venture capital.
- Anthropic uptime is less than adequate.
- Zitron’s theory is that Mythos has been held back due to capacity constraints, not fears of its capabilities.
- Claude source code leaked despite Mythos being scary powerful and apparently not being able to find a vulnerability…?
- AI is very expensive, with companies spending as much as 10% of headcount cost on AI tokens, all without appearing to provide any stability, quality or efficiency gains (or justification for lay-offs).
- Uber managed to blow through its entire AI budget for the year a few months into 2026.
- Microsoft has stopped signing up new paid GitHub Copilot subscriptions entirely (new subscription model likely in the works).
- Zitron makes a strong case for how the AI startups are misleading both investors and the general public about their revenues.

Our previous dishwasher lasted almost 25 years. A quarter of a century. It just kept working. We took it over from my in-laws. Our current dishwasher (a year old) needs a software update via an app every month. The world is just so devastatingly stupid right now.
An experienced copywriter, having finished a longer text, decides to just for laughs check it in “AI” detector software. It comes back saying 61% is likely AI-generated. For his own text.
But.
Wait for it.
The “AI” detector then offers a service…
“Would you like to humanize your text?”
…
The implication of this hurts my brain.
The only thing that realistically should happen if a generative system edits your text is that any estimation of it being “AI”-generated should increase. But the “AI” is now offering to reconstruct human text so that will appear less “AI”, and more “human”, to “AI” detection.

Glasögonens särskilda förmåga att underlätta massövervakning bidrar såklart också till en aversion, men det handlar, tycker jag, om användningsområden som specifik teknik underlättar, inte om att teknik generellt är "läskigt". Människor vill kunna påverka hur de utsätts för olika typer av behandling i det offentliga rummet (som påverkar deras eget beteende) så det blir för mig mer av en demokrati- och rättighetsfråga än en teknikfråga.

Min egen aversion handlar inte om att jag skulle vara emot ny teknik utan om att jag är emot trakasserier och rättighetskränkningar. Min uppfattning är att mycket av tekniken som möjliggör denna typ av skada är osynlig och inte något människor går runt och tänker på.
Oerhört många människor, tänker jag, vet nog inte om att glasögon som filmar finns och uppfattar det då inte som uppenbart att någon filmar dem om deras huvud råkar vara riktat mot dem. Kanske särskilt om de har solglasögon.
Men jag är absolut öppen för att ha fel i det.
Ett annat perspektiv är att många som köper glasögonen inte heller förstår hur de fungerar, vem som har tillgång till vilken information, var den hamnar, och hur andra människor kan lida skada av deras glasögonanvändning. Jag kan bara föreställa mig hur skräckfyllt det i vissa sammanhang måste vara att leva med skyddad identitet idag.
Glasögon uppmuntrar samtidigt, som jag ser det, till slarvig användning eftersom man inte ens behöver tänka på att man filmar när man väl är igång.

Det finns en hel del teknik jag älskar som inte fanns när jag var liten. Dessa glasögon är inte exempel på sådan teknik 😅. Och jag inbillar mig att inte alla som växer upp med den här tekniken är särskilt bekväma med den heller.
@troed Det är väldigt mycket svårare att gå runt och filma på en arbetsplats med en mobil utan att det märks tänker jag. Men ja, människor skulle nog generellt må bra av att bättre förstå riskerna med vanliga mobiler också.
Alla tecken pekar på att det är denna målbild även Sveriges nuvarande regering ser framför sig. 😬
