This gave me the idea to make a table sign for when I'm working in coffee shops: "I'm good at listening if you want to talk." x.com/axbom/status/1…

Make the accessible web version first. The PDF version (if you even need it) second.

In a world of mobile, reading PDF documents is a struggle. Reading responsive web pages is bliss. A user-centric mindset should tell you which path to choose.

@stubbornella @janeruffino I’m thinking of third world countries where individuals can easily start businesses using their creative skills and an Instagram account. As an engine for bringing people out of poverty I believe the Internet is doing a great job. Access to education included.

Upset by a thread where some programmers voice the opinion ”Why would I care about anything but the assignment given to me?”

This is our problem right there, complicit following and execution with zero interest in the societal impact of one’s own actions.

More and more the realization is that we need to work impact assessment into our design processes. But one important and oft-overlooked key - as I see it - is to believe people when they say they are being harmed. We need to be listening.

@Mentimeter Quick question: is it possible to have a poll open for two weeks? I want the first slide to be responses to a poll people have responded to before arriving at the event.

”Necessity is one explanation. Alaskans have been at the forefront of climate change for decades now, facing melting permafrost, coastal erosion, and rising seas. And dealing with these problems—building new infrastructure and relocating communities, for instance—is expensive.”

Men 4 graders ökning? Asch.

Yes this is an ego post for an ego boost, but also a reminder of how some of the work we do and write online has repercussions we need to be made aware of to sometimes muster that energy to keep going.

Three and a half years ago I took the time to respond to an e-mail from a student in a country far away. This person asked questions about getting into working with UX Design. I wrote some notes back and set aside time to finish a blog post with this person in mind. Just before summer this same person wrote back to just let me know they had now completed a BSc in Interaction Design, and finished their letter like this:

"I am not sure if I have anything specific to ask, but it felt good to give a status report. I realized I don't know much about you as a person, just a little as a designer, but that was enough to be inspirational. I never had a Jony Ive, but I had Don Norman, Naoto Fukasawa and a Per Axbom to think about when in need of motivation.

Thank you for replying and finishing that blog post, I didn't truly realize how much it meant to me for a long time. Thanks for doing what you do, please never stop."

It's because of letters like these that I never want to stop. ❤️
