When you keep trying to redesign the toilet sign to make it more inclusive, sooner or later you realize that we are actually looking for a toilet, not a diverse set of people 🤦♂️. So how about a toilet with an arrow, and anybody who needs to use it, follow the arrow!

To be more inclusive, let's not draw pictures of as many different people as possible. We let people decide if the facilities will work for them. This includes stalls, handrails, size, urinals, type of dryer. Also, things like if there's music and care to avoid perfumes.

By focusing on explaining the facilities we are creating more awareness of the differences between toilets, not people, and providing autonomy for anyone to avoid and/or prepare before making use of the restroom - regardless of who they are.
In the end I'm sure most people can think of things that would help them decide whether or not they would like to visit a public restroom.
Just now came across this signage which is the best I've seen: x.com/skynebula/stat…

I believe it would be helpful for more journalists to realize that social media is not representative of society as a whole and that writing like it is makes the writer a modern marionette.
As companies rush to find ways of gaining your consent for their misuse of your data, we need to boost awareness and understanding of the “informed” part of informed consent:
permission granted in FULL KNOWLEDGE of the possible consequences.

I keep coming back to @uniboxapp and it is now my primary e-mail client on both desktop and mobile. Organizing e-mail by sender just makes so much sense! I discovered it first thanks to @setapp

That phones and apps take measures to help limit screen time really doesn't solve ethical issues. It also suggests that users should share in the blame.
If services apply ethical thinking, and actually don't harm us, we don't need to build separate solutions for avoiding them.
It sometimes helps to gain perspective, to consider that the next level it-stuff we're working on now will in just a few years feel as ancient as designing websites with tables and only 216 colors. This is a reminder to focus on the human, not the tech.

@z_rose Wow. I’ve never seen a prediction this spot on before.

@francisrowland That was my first thought, what would go into my box. It's actually a terrific idea for a xmas present for anyone, maybe then along the lines of "wind down" or "me-time" box.
We’re close now, $340k needed in the next 3 days. I believe in the values this endeavor represents. Do take a look. :) x.com/axbom/status/1…
I've decided to support the Correspondent. It's set to become an English-language version of the Dutch platform De Correspondent. They're changing how news is made, what it's about and how it's funded. They need to reach 2.5 million USD within 70 hours though (currently at 2.2 million), so now is the time to figure out if you believe in their idea and want to become a founding member. I made a pledge of $25.
As with any kickstarter, if they don't make the target you don't pay anything.
Their 10 founding principles are:
We are your antidote to the daily news grind
We do not take ad dollars of any kind
We fight stereotypes, prejudice, and fearmongering
We don’t just cover the problem, but also what can be done about it
We collaborate with you, our knowledgeable members
We don’t take the view from nowhere. We tell you where we’re coming from
We protect your privacy, by minimizing the personal data we collect
We want to be as inclusive as possible
We always put journalism before financial gain
We believe in transparency and continued self-improvement
Here's an idea: Stop asking to set default tracking cookies with a setup that no visitor understands because that's not freakin' GDPR compliant anyway!!!

This is my favorite video about stimming, that repetitive thing many people do to calm themselves.
