Whenever someone asks me, ”Do you know Excel?”, I’ll respond ”Do you mean like Tatsuo Horiuchi?”. x.com/jmspool/status…
Interesting development. Many online magazines must now be scrambling to figure out how to block Chrome in incognito mode. Until then, you fan bypass paywalls [haven’t tried myself yet as I don’t use Chrome].

Painful provocation.
Perky people prodding with peppy, periodic proclamations of praise for patented plans promising paradise.
I love the checklist for public speaking in Nick’s blog post. x.com/nickf/status/1…

"Just Press Record will never interrupt you to ask for a review."
This is now a selling point. And a welcome one.

Idag är det 55 dagar till 23 september då nya offentliga webbplatser måste ha en tillgänglighetsredogörelse.
Har ni koll på läget?

@JesperBylund My best way of documenting (in that people actually reference it) has been a demo slideshow preso every 3 weeks and the video recording of the same, including QA sessions with the stakeholders. Part of the demo has naturally been to explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
The flaws in thinking machines can read emotions. Also, here’s the categorization going on again. Six(!) emotions. I mean, how is that constraint going to serve the complexity that is a human being. Or maybe we just need two categories: crimethink and goodthink... x.com/paminthelab/st…

Reading Behave now. By neurobiologist Robert Sapolsky.

Promising intro explaining problems of categorization in diagnosis and evaluation. With takedowns of Nobel laureates Egaz Moniz (developed frontal lobotomies) and Konrad Lorenz (animal behaviorist and member of the Office of Race Policy in the Nazi party).
"They helped shape who and how we educate and our views on what social ills are fixable and when we shouldn't bother. They enabled the destruction of the brains of people against their will. And they helped implement final solutions for problems that didn't exist."
Finally a book that problematizes human behavior a bit more than describing a habit loop. 👏
Terms like aggression, compassion, sympathy, competition, cooperation, revenge, violence, reciprocity can all mean different things to scientists living inside different disciplines.
It’s weird how many neuroscience books I read that mention the activities attributed to the left and right parts of the brain, often with an image, and then clarify it’s not really true. That’s not how you kill a myth. 🤔
