@The_Corres Is there a way for me to receive the newsletters to a separate e-mail address, and important account information to my primary address?
I use @feedbin to manage news, and having news separate from the inbox is a lifesaver when it comes to information management.
This is Baby Elis, a virtual baby influencer. Elis has been launched by the food market chain Ica in Sweden.
On the instagram account @babyelis people will be able to follow this marketing gimmick, partaking in tidbits from the virtual baby's "life".
It's a brave new world.đŹ

@babyElis On #UncannyValley:
Interviewer: "Do you still think that robot designers should aim for the first peak instead of aiming beyond the valley?"
Masahiro Morio: "Yes, I do. I always tell them to stop there. Why do you have to take the risk and try to get closer to the other side?"

The quote from Morio is from this interview. spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/roboâŠ
"Bukimi no tani", or uncanny valley, was first coined by Mori in the 1970s. His paper is translated here: spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/roboâŠ
Here's my update with the correct link to the Insta account, and also to mention that the account was launched with an ultrasound pic "This pic is from a year ago."
Topping it off... Baby Elis is posting stories. Somebody is having fun at work...

You may have just forgotten about baby Elis. I'm here to remind you. I'm thoughtful like that.

@gustavgatu Yeah, I'm not surprised at all. The surprise is Twitter proactively admitting it. With regards to phone numbers I believe many are missing the severity of it, since so many happily share their address books with any and all services- of course sharing my data in the process... đ
@gustavgatu The phone number is the key that can unlock and create relationships between data sets that previously seemed completely unrelated.
@gustavgatu Hence it's not about the privacy value of the phone number but the connections between much more private data that it enables.
Yes, the fact that journalists repeat these types of statements without critique is worrying. "Oopsie, our software decided to match fields from entirely different databases to create a personalized marketing profile. I wonder how that could have happened?!" đ€ x.com/frdrk/status/1âŠ

Two learnings here.
1. Avoid using SMS for two-factor authentication.
2.Donât readily give away your phone number. Itâs one of the unique trackable identifiers of you as an individual, and often not necessary for a commercial relationship.

I dream of social media environments designed for mindful speaking, conscious listening and assisted comprehension.
I donât believe for a second that these core properties of communication are central to the tools we are currently using for communication.
This is a problem.

@EmmaLovelace @kickstarter There are people posting about getting them so I'm still keeping my hopes up. Did you alert @The_Lampster about that video?

@EmmaLovelace @kickstarter Ha, I was just looking at their last e-mail yesterday! According to this they are still sending them out. Since I had letter customization I'll likely be one of the last to get one.

@caseorganic All posts. Itâs a relatively new thing on Medium and with confusing setups. You may have set your post as premium but I couldnât say for sure. If people donât have a Medium account they struggle to read. One of the reasons I moved away from Medium and not writing there anymore.
@caseorganic (Itâs extra sneaky because if you click to articles via Twitter theyâre free, which means a lot of publishers donât realize the barriers when links are shared in other ways.)

Do you use the word âtribeâ in your business jargon? Did you go through the motions of considering how that use is perceived by others, how it may be culturally sensitive? Or did you take Seth Godinâs book at face value?
If youâve never considered that the word tribe may be problematic, hereâs a nuanced post that may be worth reading. Itâs possible that you still arrive at the conclusion that âtribeâ is your best word, but then you will at least have done the reflective reasoning and can respond with insight - rather than emotion - to anyone who may question this use in the future.
Stay curious.

@beantin @caseorganic Was trying to teach an older person why they needed more than one remote control the other day. The TV isn't where they change channels anymore. But also, the few buttons that still exist on the tv are hidden away and unreadable. It's maddening and yes, progressively worse.
