Developers, Choose Wisely: a Guide for Responsible Use of Machine Learning APIs by @RoyaPak link.medium.com/YUMHGbcHT8
I've done this experiment twice in my life. It's one of the most intense and powerful and emotional things you can do. Worth it. But exhausting. x.com/jmchasteen/sta…
I started teaching my ethics class again today and I just got some lovely feedback from one of the students and now I'm just sitting here and soaking it in, very happy. Been a bit nervous about going 100% online. Feels so much better now.
Also, my tech and software setup for this course is 🔥. I'm using @mmhmmapp, @GetSambaLive, @MailerLite, @Mentimeter, @PaperformCo and @VismeApp.

@PavelASamsonov This is so spot on it hurts... 😥
Haha, I found this graphic which was my 404 page many many moons ago 😅

I just ordered the board game Trial by Trolley, because obviously. It's a "party game of moral dilemmas and trolley murder". 🧐

@marcusosterberg @Augmentedrobot @DIGG_Sverige Det här liksom. Japp, den här appen har vi hackat fram och vunnit med flera gånger. Bisarrt på många sätt. Att det tillåts och att man sedan stoltserar med det.

@DrEliDavid This is the point. AI embodies and exacerbates human bias by being better and faster than humans at making biased decisions. Human bias can not be fixed, it is part of the limits of being human. But humans can learn to mitigate the harms of bias, with reasoning.
@DrEliDavid The fallacy that is addressed is the common notion that AI systems are 'neutral' and hence more trustworthy.

Hammer: Transparent. Understandable by many. Autonomously controlled. Predictable. Single-person use.
AI: Obscure. Lack of individual control. Unpredictable. Massive-scale impact. Authority-imposed.
Tools are different.

'By saying “that’s not our problem,” technologists abdicate their self-governance. They effectively decide to shove a decision onto society, and ask society to regulate them.'

@radicallyrach Super freaked out - like mentioning it to everyone - and I don't live there... 😳
When you're watching Star Wars and realize that Vader is father in Dutch and it's this in-your-face retrospective spoiler.
"Luke, I am your vader."
"Well d'uh."
But yeah I know that wasn't planned. Unless... the name itself prompted the creation of that plot twist.
I have to say, @hylo is looking better and better by way of organizing community forums.

@MollyWattTalks @abbott567 @NickColley While a powerful quote, I'd use with care as it applies differently in different countries and not globally. The way blue eyes alludes to nazi eugenics is thought provoking, but I'm thinking can be triggering in some contexts. 89% of people in Finland have blue eyes. 😮
