2020 will still be the year I deleted Facebook, ditched Instagram and removed the possibility to connect with me on LinkedIn (without talking to me). I believe this has helped my own wellbeing and productivity immensely. My relationship with Twitter still needs some work...

@per_p Yes, if I install a workout/health app I may be doing so with the knowledge that notifications may benefit my overall health. Or notifications to take medication for example can help in cognitive distress. Important not to generalize I believe.
@per_p But I also of course see your point and think the proposition could be worded as "You have less free will if apps send notifications by default and intent to change that behavior requires significant effort (cognitive, physical or otherwise)." In which case I would agree ;)

@per_p Trick question. "Allow" implies autonomous behavior and that act is the free will. Granted, phones can make it more or less difficult to exercise free will, but a notification can also be an expression of my free will.
