@WolfgangBremer I hate that we're stuck with so many bad platforms because first-to-market won over quality... 😢

@maadonna That makes me think I should make a deal with a coffee house that if I order a consultancy coffee they charge the person with me 120 bucks for that, and the coffee place keeps 20... haha.

@tashwillcocks Thanks! Yes, I was going to add in car accidents but ran out of space. Last month Sweden had the least number of traffic-related deaths in many, many years...
Received excellent feedback from a client on the online talk I did recently. It had to do with me not always explaining each slide so that people with visual impairments could better benefit from the talk.
I know it's something I forget to do. I will practice this more.

They loved the talk itself, so I'm actually going to do a repeat of the talk for other members of the same organization. And because she gave me this feedback I'll be giving it at half price, and keen to hear her judgement of if this part of my presentation has improved.

I'm trying not to be rude and ignore people, my inbox is just so overwhelming right now I can hardly bear to open it, much less go through it systematically... I try to tell myself this is okay, but it also conflicts with my values.
Being accessible the way e-mail opens you up to the world... while having massive positive potential, yes this can in many ways be a harmful thing too.
But also, I will not "hop on a quick video call" with people I've never met, barging into my inbox with unclear intentions.

The systemic complexity of managing a pandemic.
I drew a system map to try and make sense of factors affecting, and being affected by, managing a pandemic. This is in no way a complete picture, and certainly not a verified one, but a way of showing the potential complexity and for myself summarizing much of what I've seen in reporting.
p.s. If anyone has experience in making a diagram like this accessible for more people, I welcome your suggestions. The idea I have is to make a blog post where I have a bullet list that describes the potential effect of each arrow. This brings some value, but perhaps there are even better ways.
Also note that in the map I use "physical distancing" rather than "social distancing", as well as "population immunity" rather than "herd immunity".

@jonnyraeevans @lauraklein @steveportigal @StopFundingHate @tashwillcocks It's amazing 'cause it's true. 😊

#covid19

A few small updates in this second version of my system map, The systemic complexity of managing a pandemic.

The three types of curiosity.
Being curious is one of the traits that feeds our human intelligence. Curiousity contributes to our speed of development, our level of knowledge and our ability to adapt to new situations.

@callenet @beantin The question that arises in me is when clapping is a review/points gesture and when it is a social etiquette gesture. This would influence the design.
Giving a presentation to 80 people as a webinar is a certainly a different experience but quickly becoming the norm. Today I added my own applause sound effects at the end! 😂

@rnadworny Haha. You're right. Been using WEIRD for so long in my talks it seemed I wanted to complement that. But you're right, I'm really looking for somwthing else.

@rnadworny Haha put the words in the wrong order. Yes I went for the O because it was more funny if it spelled Weirdo. But WEIRD is of course not my brain child.
@rnadworny Not enough relevant words starting with O... 🤪
Remember, if you build a new solution to a problem and this becomes a profitable business - the profits are guaranteed as long as the problem persists.
You would do good to reason around if it is a problem that should persist, and if you are contributing to its persistence.
WEIRDO

Does this work? I wanted to add the O to emphasize that they are people who conform with a norm, thus excluding anyone who would culturally be seen as deviant from this norm.
