@NicoAGrant Would love to hear their new diversity officer's take on this. x.com/axbom/status/1…
Zoom on Saturday: We are a company built on caring for our community. Also, we hired a diversity officer last week.
Zoom on Tuesday: We won’t encrypt calls for users on the free tier. We want to cooperate with law enforcement.

How black squares in social media are defeating their own purpose – The dangers of good intent without foresight
A retelling of words of wisdom by @MsPackyetti
axbom.blog/black-squares/
#AmplifyMelanatedVoices
Please be advised: When you post black squares on social media with important hashtags such as George Floyd and Black Lives Matter this means that when people search for these hashtags the results are flooded with empty content. This makes it harder for the real reporting from the protests to be seen, and for black news outlets to reach their audience. Consider not using these hashtags for empty content.
It's also election day in nine states and black squares means that content about important events is now harder to find and will reach fewer people. Because it's all black squares.
This is not criticism, this is knowledge sharing. That needs to be spread further. I'm sure most people don't consider the potential negative outcomes of these types of actions. But it's now time to reflect and be critical. It's not entirely unlikely that the black squares campaign is fuelled by the alt-right.
[Update] Here is a blog post if you want to share this info: https://axbom.blog/black-squares
Here's what happens when you post black squares and use the same hashtags that are used to provide information on the protests: you drown out the real information and make it harder to find. twitter.com/supadupacurl/status/12…

A summary and reflection by @KarenAttiah
#BlackOutTuesday was a case study in how performative solidarity goes awry

He will not stop at anything...
This word is key: 'Anything'.
This is a person who said he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and not lose any voters.
It's getting closer.

"I was wondering if I could share the following article with my audience on LinkedIn?"
2 wks later:
"Hi again!
I just wanted to follow-up about sharing your article with my digital marketing audience on LinkedIn...
Do you mind if I go ahead and do that? 😊"
My brain hurts.
These e-mails are especially revealing spam messages, as they aren't actually referencing an article, but a podcast episode. The person sending has no clue as to what they are offering to share.
(The idea is to build rapport and then encourage us to add a link to them.)
↪ Replying to @DorotheaBaur
@DorotheaBaur Categorically refuse. It skews search engine results in favor of highest-payer rather than most relevant. For me, it's a matter of personal ethics where I don't want to recommend anything based on if I'm paid for it, even if it would be marked as 'sponsored content'.
↪ Replying to @DorotheaBaur
@DorotheaBaur In its simplest form: they write an article for my blog with their own content and lots of links to whatever they're selling :)
↪ Replying to @DorotheaBaur
@DorotheaBaur I know... haha 😊 For added context this is for "link" collaboration, which I have a special aversion to.
"Sorry if this is an out of the blue question, but are you currently open to working on paid collaborations?"
Well, it's less and less out of the blue, because you have been sending the exact same question every two weeks for some months now.
Everything is relative...

@bjornfant @beantin 1. Hur ska användaren förstå vad "Captcha betyder?
2. Bilder kan väl läsas av automatiserade verktyg?

@hypervisible ’we are a company that is built on caring for our community’
Now let me work with our first ever diversity officer that we hired last week to ’figure out’ what this means...
This curfew obviously does not include private residences and their porches.
This scene is unreal. And yet still very real. x.com/tkerssen/statu…
Having a work session with @beantin to sort out our @uxpodcast backlog of things that we are years behind with. 35 minutes in and we have played around with a new conference tool and sorted complex audio tech issues. Nothing related to what we're supposed to be doing yet... 😂
Now we are talking about @beantin's new office chair.
Now we are comparing different ways of managing to do lists. 50 minutes have passed... 😜
