Has Musk claimed the "Founder of Twitter" title yet?

How many new items of clothing do you buy per year? The average American buys 68.
I want to start tracking this for myself. Not only clothes really, but all purchases and all conclusions of ownership…

@Acuity_Design "Nailing jelly to a wall" should be a blog post 😁

@dschatsky @PavelASamsonov Yes I did find that Pavel’s addition paired perfectly.

@JuleMarie1999 This is true, there’s always a finish line for what you’re making in the moment, for a certain context or within a time constraint. I think what I mostly wanted to call out was the “famous” quote about the drill and how it doesn’t really help us pinpoint what an insight is. ->
@JuleMarie1999 That said: going beyond what one decides is “within scope” can also uncover opportunities and ideas that suddenly then also become “within scope”. That type of research dedication is of course rare.

@impactology Lovely concepts. Lots of twists and turns in your levels of tweets. You need to blog about this! ;)

@nickf @leeloowrites No way! I was actually thinking of these when I wrote the tweet, because I also wanted to get across that not all hooks need a hole... but not enough space... 😂
↪ Replying to @blogisch
@blogisch Yes I'm imagining something along those lines as well.
People don't want a quarter inch drill, they want a quarter inch hole.
People don't want a quarter inch hole, they want a way to hang a photo.
People don't want to hang a photo, they want to feel the presence of loved ones.
I don't think there's a finish line for insights.
To be clear: naturally there’s a stopping point for research and hence a ‘finish line’ within the context of a project. What I wanted to point out was that the oft-used drill quote isn’t as helpful as it’s made out to be. Also wanted to emphasise the layer of human connection. 😊
But formally we can keep going with research. And some of it will be valuable and some not. Some may lead to opportunities and ideas that would not have been uncovered without that extra effort.
For added wisdom, I direct you to the tweets of @PavelASamsonov and @leeloowrites x.com/PavelASamsonov…
Looking forward to reading this. Will decide if I should add another element to The Elements of Digital Ethics or if the insights fit under one or more of the existing ones. twitter.com/eyesondesign00/status/…
I know Russ is being contrarian for humorous effect. But it's also a good reminder that many people had the opposite opinion for many years before anyone decided that accomodating multiple preferences is a good thing - and worth investing in.
Still a ways to go in many areas. x.com/HulkDad79/stat…
Also: many implementations of dark mode are very poor. Here’s an example from Twitter when I select which images Twitter may have access to when I upload. It took me a while to realise nothing was happening because I couldn’t find the ‘Done’ button. There is also a ‘Cancel’. 😬

Absolutely brilliant research and reporting by Norwegian @NRKno. Highlights the role played by TikTok in not letting Russians see anything from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

@TheVerge writes about cookie banners in violation of EU data laws and has the same illegal cookie banner live on the article where they write about it. Not enough jounalists call out their own publications.

The Verge: France’s data protection agency CNIL fined Google €150 million for deploying confusing language in cookie banners. Previously, Google forced people to click through various menus to reject them all. This asymmetry was unlawful, said CNIL.
…
The Verge: Just like this!
Only way to opt out of cookies on The Verge? Disable them in your browser! 🤯
Also, where it says ”Please see the links below for guidance…” those are not links!
This is much, much worse than the example in their article.
