There are cries for ethics in the design industry, and I hear these cries. But the cry is a symptom of a greater problem, that of people getting hurt. The design problem is for products and services to NOT harm people. Now *that* we can work with.

You don’t build strategy so that there is one path to victory. You build strategy so that there are as many paths as possible to something that isn’t loss.

Shit will hit the fan, and when it does you will also be defined by how you handle the aftermath. Designing the ā€afterā€ is just as important as designing the ā€beforeā€.

@SimonRefn @MrAlanCooper @levibeach @monteiro I’m keeping a close eye on Impact Management Project who are now exploring the legal implications of a convention around impact management, and possible legal consequences for orgs that contribute to negative impact. impactmanagementproject.com/latest/the-leg…

@SimonRefn @MrAlanCooper @levibeach @monteiro My sense is that there are different viable paths to regulation that will contribute to an environment where designers can take more responsibility.

@SimonRefn @MrAlanCooper @levibeach @monteiro But also I believe we need to set up support organizations for designers who are looking to take more responsibility but are at a loss on how to start. I’m getting many of these types of questions now.
