@alundbergh Could be, but it seems that tracking is the dominant tactic to reach that goal.

@kaseyjwang I have very little experience of this as I always turn down help, but very fair points. Shopping in physical stores can be painful, requires resilience as they do want to track you. Do you see us approaching a world where it’s impossible to stay anonymous even in physical stores?

@xtopher1974 I’m beginning to appreciate the taxis in Germany that prefer cash... #paranoid

@xtopher1974 True, but it feels easier for me to opt out by paying cash and avoiding customer clubs. I had the thought today at a café where I paid cash. But you’re right, a lot of tracking going on anyway.
Basically any time I buy something online now I start a relationship that needs a privacy policy. At a physical store they don’t need to know who I am. How could online stores offer shopping that does not require a relationship?
To elaborate: I know physical stores WANT to track me and will do their utmost to do so. But I believe a physical store is more likely to agree to sell me stuff without requiring an e-mail address, membership or credit card.
Perhaps we are heading down that route though.

Remember: ”nobody was hurt” only indicates that nobody was physically hurt. There is lots of invisible hurt going on that news outlets choose to ignore in their general reporting.

@adrianh I’m now in a state where I am not approving the updated terms and they won’t let me in. I’ll keep it like that for a while for research purposes =)
