Isn’t it terrifying how the words ”edge” and ”margin” so obviously correlate when development projects ignore so-called edge-cases, thus ignoring marginalized people.

Prediction: At some point in the future a majority of humanity will reach the conclusion that listening, not discussing, is the path to resolving conflict.

Different types of passion:
1) Shouting into a camera about how awesome a new idea is and you should totally invest.
2) Calmly explaining in detail something produced with great effort.
3) Sitting outside parliament in a school strike against political complacency re: climate.
To elaborate: there is a school strike outside parliament in Stockholm going on right now, initiated by a 15-year old. Started yesterday, will continue until election day September 9. x.com/gretathunberg/…

@steveportigal @letterpress_se I think there is loads of truth in that. I actually can and do use Twitter without being caught up in the hate, but find it at odds with my ethical core to support a platform where people do get hurt. I may be too naive.
@steveportigal @letterpress_se Maybe our online forums are now at the scale where me saying this is just as stupid as saying that I'm supporting a society where people are killed just by interacting with that society.
Honestly, I'd miss you guys too much to delete my Twitter account tomorrow. But what could we do to build something better? What could I do to contribute?

Sometimes I think myself into the idea that the world is one big virtual puzzle and if we just figure out the correct reality the scientists will have to reveal themselves.
So once in a while I slowly turn my head and whisper softly to the sky: "Did I solve it?"
No luck yet 😂

@JamieJBartlett Thank you for writing. Good stuff and I enjoy your writing style. Stumbled upon it by chance at Waterstones in Edinburgh two weeks ago =) I'll need to buy your other books as well.
Reading about Cambridge Analytica methodology. So simple, and therefore terrifying.
The book is People vs Tech by @JamieJBartlett

Six levels of maturity for ethics / impact management in digital design:
1. Awareness that people can be harmed by digital solutions
2. Awareness that my own product/service can harm people
3. Listen for harm
4. Identify harm
5. Communicate the impact
6. Contribute to solutions
This gave me the idea to make a table sign for when I'm working in coffee shops: "I'm good at listening if you want to talk." x.com/axbom/status/1…

In a world of mobile, reading PDF documents is a struggle. Reading responsive web pages is bliss. A user-centric mindset should tell you which path to choose.
