Sometimes I feel that infinite scroll was a deciding moment for harmful design.
Imagine banning infinite scroll and how this would change behaviors.

My wife just clicked to read the terms and conditions of a service we’re signing up for. When she returned to the order page, all her previously entered data had disappeared.
Obviously there was no use-case for *actually* reading the terms and conditions.

If replies online are slow from winter-stricken countries it's likely because checking messages is fast but typing responses is too cold for comfort and the battery risks dying. And then when we get home we've forgotten about the message.
Your yearly reminder that predictions are guesses and people considered thought leaders (educated guessers) frequently get them wrong. Work with your own goals and maybe don’t believe predictions as much as your brain would like.

As a @Medium member, I’d rather my monthly payments went towards keeping paywalls down, not raising them for the ”benefit” of members-only content.
I hate sharing articles that have paywalls and just avoided sharing one when I noticed it required a ”free” account.

@nickf @tranhelen @uxlx @BrunoFigueiredo I’ll second this. Beautiful city. Diverse participants from 25+(?) countries. Lovely evening events. Speakers are always mingling and hanging around to chat. Good balance of workshops and a full day of talks, with a variety of ticket options for attendees.

@inkblurt If I have time I read, If not I archive it. Which means I read 20-30% of the newsletters that arrive. The trick for me is to stay in control and fight off feelings of shame and regret. The ones I read give me value/inspirarion but reading all would be an impossible balance act.
@inkblurt The other trick is to have a shortcut that allows me to archive with a single keypress.
