While it's pretty much impossible to remove Amazon from your life, does anyone have experience with competing e-book readers - like the Nook or Kobo variants?
Although I am wary of the Nook after this weird misstep in 2012: they replaced all occurences of the word Kindle with Nook in their e-books. So in War and Peace they don't kindle fires, they nook(!) them.

Accepting others for who they are is not about empowering them, it's about empowering you.
If you can provide a safe space for people you previously met with prejudice, that's you empowered.
Like any power, it requires regular training.
The rewards are immense.
I am far from perfect in this area, but I practice regularly through coaching. Attending a coaching program (in my case an ICF-accredited education) is one of my best career decisions, impacting all aspects of life.

@jmspool I brought up the problems with this fallacy in a talk last year and it was astonishing to me how many came up to me after to defend it.
There are so many of these truthisms being repeated... adding to the complexity of teaching, when others in teaching roles believe them.
I'm halfway through Brainstorm: Detective Stories from the World of Neurology by Suzanne O'Sullivan and it is an amazing read. My intent is to do a write-up when I'm through it later this week.
The more convenience we have, the less we need to plan and know.
The less we plan, and the less we know, the more convenience becomes a gateway to exploitation.
As more exploitation happens, the more wicked our problems.
Wicked problems are inconvenient.
But not if you can ignore them.
Because it's convenient.
