@andybudd Thanks Andy, I also saw that and added it to the thread. When I search on Twitter I actually see guys giving each other the advice ”just drop an AirTag in her purse.” It’s a thing. 😳

Earlier this year I wrote about the abuse potential for the Airtag. Starting this thread to add real stories about the impact since they were released in late April.

”[I was nervous to sleep at home that night] because my phone didn’t even detect the first one, my cousin's phone did, and the people willing to harm you have intentions unknown, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if they followed me.”

”A local auto theft task force tells FOX 2 they’re seeing more cases like these in Metro Detroit. Thieves track the target vehicle and to pick the most opportune time to steal – found mostly on Dodge products, parked in mall parking lots.”

If you are reading this and want to feel safer, Apple days ago launched the app Tracker Detect for Android. And iOS 15 lets you scan for nearby AirTags.
Forcing this action onto vulnerable people is of course not the future we were hoping to live in.

I encourage you to read Eva’s thread for insights into the many ways the Airtag creates real danger,

In Sweden in October it was revealed how GPS trackers (not necessarily the Airtag) could be used to reveal the addresses of people with protected identities.

"The New York Times spoke with seven women who believe they were tracked with AirTags, including a 17-year-old whose mother surreptitiously placed one on her car to stay apprised of her whereabouts." nyti.ms/3za6C54
Expecting a future of cinema where more and more western nations are clearly depicted for the real harm and ignorance they have been bringing for centuries.

“This so-called artificial intelligence is the engine of algorithms that are, in fact, far less smart than they are portrayed and more discriminatory and unfair than big data wants you to know.”

How did the orcs, elves and halflings come to live on beyond the borders of Middle-earth?
Not one of them were Non-Fungible Tolkiens.

@unnderbar Realised I should have asked if you're familiar with the Empower program run by @ambitiongrp? The code "xmas" gives you 10% off if you sign up before December 20. 😃🧑🎄

@JaredFossey Oh no you are most welcome to answer! I want to do interviews around this in the future as well, so that might be something I could put you on the list for.
Expect lots of content in the free text field from you ;)
@JaredFossey The challenge right now is finding the best perspective for this because damn there seems to be a lot of different types of misuse of BankID going on. I have gotten lots of long answers in the free text field and those stories will be the most interesting to share.

@JaredFossey Sorry, no. That would of course have been more inclusive. My intent though is to learn from this survey to then be able to go broader with a more scientific selection process and more focused questions.

@kolombiken @voxpelli Yeah it wasn't a specific happening. As I'm doing my BankID survey it's so obvious that we are given access to way too much personal financial and health data just by having access to a phone. Nobody checks to see if it's the right person holding the phone.
🇸🇪 Hjälp mig gärna sprida min undersökning med fem frågor om BankID. Sista dagen att svara är på fredag den 17 december. Tack 🙏

Assuming that one phone equals one person gets us into all sorts of trouble when it comes to identification and access to data – and the potential abuse of both.
One phone can be accessed by more than one person, knowingly or unknowingly. One person can have more than one phone.
When I stopped blocking "metaverse" from my timeline I was immediately hit with quality content. x.com/ballin_rourke/…
Waiting on a presumed price drop in telepresence robots… 😅 But how do I hold the whiteboard marker?

I think I can. I think I am.
Very excited, nervous and proud to have been asked to give a talk on behalf of a human rights organisation I admire, kickstarting a new series of conversations they are hosting.
Hope to reveal more later in the week. Meanwhile, enjoy a sample of my evening photography.
