@Jessikayyy @OvercastFM But this is unfortunately the reason people are scrambling to be available on Spotify and in some cases are going exclusive there. Spotify is providing data that podcasters have never had access to before.
@Jessikayyy @OvercastFM My hope was that Spotify would continue to be one of many channels I could choose from as a listener to download shows (as it is with our podcast), but we are seeing market grabs now where podcasts are becoming exclusive to platforms, just like tv-series and movies.

@MarMurube @MichelleObama Yes! But the thing I'm not thrilled about is that it's locked in and you need a Spotify account. The beginning of the end for podcasting as we know it... or I think we should call it a Spotify show rather than a podcast.

While comparisons are often disconnected, I found it fascinating to learn there has been one (1) - yes, one single person - shot dead by police in the entire history of Iceland. In December 2013.

A man was firing out a window. Teargas was used first but he did not respond. When he opened fire at the police officers they fired back.
The incident still led to national mourning, and the Iceland police department immediately apologized to the family out of respect.
Iceland is one of the countries (like Norway, New Zealand, Britain and Ireland) where police officers generally don't carry guns. Of those, Iceland is the only country where it's legal for citizens to carry guns, with an estimate of 30 privately-owned guns per 100 people.
Richard Hill, history professor at Victoria University in New Zealand, puts it like this: “Constables are placed in authority to protect, not to oppress, the public. For officers to carry guns would not just be unnecessary, but also antithetical to the values of civil society.”
Those were my Sunday morning musings and learnings. Also remember that Iceland is an island nation of just over 360,000 people. There are not a whole lot of conclusions to draw, other than that there are always different ways to manage law and order.

Sweden's Agency for Digital Government ran a Hack the Crisis hackathon and awarded prize money to an app designed to manage Covid Immunity Certificates. Despite the many question marks around e.g. civil rights that this entails.

What's your gut feeling when it comes to issuing Covid Immunity Certificates? Digital or otherwise.
The reason I ask is that the Swedish government has recenty awarded an app for immunity certificates. With no sign of ethics or risk evaluations. For an app designed to influence civil rights. I'm beyond upset. 😡
