Sometimes I stop to recognize how thankful I am to stay sane within the space of learning about the distress the tech space is willing to impose on others, and that I - by my mere parttaking - impose as well. As the voice in my head questions: 'but how could you possibly be?'.
You might not think it, but reading 'The Age of Surveillance Capitalism' by @shoshanazuboff really, really helps. Having a vocabulary to speak about what you are experiencing is vital to reflective thinking.
I believe it's one of the most important books of our time.
One of the disturbing scenes in @Marc_Elsberg's book Blackout that I can't get out of my head are all the cows dying in writhing pain, because milking machines won't work without power.
It's such a succinct summary of how human 'modernization' will lead to horrible ends.
This is why every time I hear 'digital transformation' I try to imagine the casualties. They are close, they are far, and they are invisible. Only to be acknowledged when it starts becoming too uncomfortable to ignore them. The suffering plays on...
