@janeruffino No, the "we" was referring to us white men. I couldn't possibly begin to understand the obstacles you encounter, but I do appreciate having you in my network, showing me how my reality is misconstrued and how some of my actions and behavior contribute to the status quo or worse.

@janeruffino True, and if we want to see ourselves as allies in this shift we need to better understand what we are doing wrong and what we are (maybe) doing right. Calling on myself, as a person who takes up a lot of bandwidth, to find better ways of passing the mic.

@janeruffino Good point. I think my tweet was born out of so many industry voices stating certain ways of working as factually the best way. And yes, predominantly white men.

@naynerz @cydharrell @kimgoodwin One could probably argue that they are learned, or even internalized at that early age, and then subsequent teachings and cicumstances systematically break down - more or less - the ability to distinguish between benevolent and maleficent.
