I don't tell people to quit their job because that's not a thing everyone can do. I help them acknowledge that their awareness is healthy, change takes time, and there are conversations they can invite to.

@tb220 Right, and regulations are often bypassed when tech is in play. In Sweden MSB bypassed procurement processes and ignored privacy warnings. I did not address tech 'companies', but the role of tech in healthcare.
Approvals of medical devices, when they are apps, are undemanding.
@tb220 But I agree, time has shown when medical professionals are involved in evaluation, they are often cautious and take time to reason. Showing the system works. Problems more often appear when other parts of government push ahead without consideration.

@tb220 My point is not that we should not experiment, but that we should experiment responsibly. There are reasons medical ethics is decades ahead of tech ethics: dangers are understood and managed. This is why drugs take years to develop, and potentially dangerous apps take weeks.

@stephenanderson I use @Feedbin for this. So I get both RSS feeds and newsletters into the same reading experience, with the option of tags/categories.
(Feedbin comes with a unique e-mail address for this purpose, so it's good from a privacy perspective as well.)

@anettenovak Yes, the photo of Kim Phúc is mentioned in the article as well. It demonstrates well the messiness of algorithms and how values and bias are built in. Makes one realize how few and far between the user backlash is, since most of these decisions are invisible and multitudinous.
