It is there on the small branch. The reason for the placement is that it is a paid service and not one I can install freely on any server of my own.
More thinking behind the graphic is outlined in the post.

@leeloowrites Hey!
@tranhelen On this page, under ”Bonus 4”, I list four different tools.
https://axbom.com/mastodon-tips/
There will certainly be an overlap of the accounts you find, but I don’t now enough details to say if trying all of them is redundant.
Yes, I really should. Don't know why I didn't do that from the start. It's what I did with my Fediverse graphic and that ended up being used for the Wikipedia article on the Fediverse. 😁
Will make sure to do it for version 4. Thx for the encouragement.
@t3kk Thanks. Yes, I'm aware of the Metatext issues.Still it's long been one of the best from an accessibility perspective. Will do a bit of research on the ones you mentioned. 👍
What apps would you like to see mentioned? I don't use installed apps myself (only PWA) so I rely on the recommendations of others for that part.
Thank you Blake, that's very kind.
@Cozynerd Ah tack för återkoppling. Bra för mig att ha i åtanke när andra frågar också. 👍
Thank you Blake. Even on Mastodon we are not safe from content steals and cropping out credits... 😊
As I draw a lot of visuals I'm getting used to coming across them without credits all over the place.
And yes, that diagram has been updated twice in my original post since it was cropped, whenever in the timeline that was 😅
Not blaming anyone here, I'm sure it was picked up from somewhere(?) even though the post does not specify.
@jayrope Yes, I use a self-hosted Ghost for both newsletter and blog. Same domain. All newsletters also posted as blog posts.
This also means that the newsletter has an RSS feed if people don't want to subscribe via email.
In my most recent newsletter I wrote about online resilience. This is the idea of owning your own spaces online to become less vulnerable when websites and social media platforms implode.
About preparing now so you won't suddenly lose your content and contacts later.
Given current events you may be in a state of mind where the content resonates with you. The post has some practical advice on how you can build your own online resilience.
⚠️ Why is #JohnMastodon a thing?
In a Mediaite article about Twitter’s recent suspensions of journalists, conservative writer Isaac Schorr seems to have read the Twitter account ’@joinmastodon’ as "John Mastodon".
With zero fact-checking and a vivid imagination he then goes as far to write that John Mastodon is ”the founder of a competing social media company named after himself”.
So many wrongs in a single sentence!
Here’s a link to the archived original article: https://web.archive.org/web/20221216232836/https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/hypocrisy-and-fear-all-the-way-down-at-twitter/
@ambivalena Haha tack, ja det blev inte någon stor mastodont direkt. Men det var ett provskott. Hoppas hinna fler i veckan :)
I made a gingerbread mastodon.

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
Thirty-two years ago I wrote an anonymous letter to broadcast news. I was 16. And one day I saw my letter on TV. It was written by hand.
Why would they show the anonymous letter I sent them? My teachers would surely recognize my handwriting!

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
There was no way for the three perpetrators to save themselves now. My letter had exposed in detail the hazing ritual. The abuse that had taken place six months earlier wherein the three older students had forced themselves into the dorm rooms of three 14-year olds. Pulled off their pants. Shaved off their pubic hair.
Everyone knew.

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
I remember. The victims trying to laugh it away as they were standing in line for Sunday breakfast. Joking away the abuse they had to endure.
Everyone knew.

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
And then six months later a journalist was running a completely different story. A person who had been locked in a cupboard for hours. The event had leaked to the press and she was gathering information.
It was my chance. I had to do something. I wrote to the network about what had happened only a few months after I had started at the boarding school.
And there was my letter on TV.
(4/6)
⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
The day after they were expelled.
Three young men who were about to graduate. They were given just four hours to vacate the premises.
The school that had been their home four years of their lives. Where they had been perpetrators. But also themselves victims, year after year until tradition dictated it was their time to play the abuser.

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
All the adults at the school knew. But only the the ones who had been in the room faced consequences. The just-turned-18-year olds.
And if any teacher recognized my handwriting they never said to me.
I remained anonymous.
And so the system endures.

⚠️ Mention of physical abuse
I’ve had the opportunity to share the story in this thread before, in a book written about the three long-lived boarding schools in Sweden. It contains many witness reports from students and staff.
Unfortunately I have little insight into the happenings of today at these schools (which honestly has essentially always been the case for anyone on the outside).
Watching Dead Poets Society again really gnawed at me...
@spytfyre Must watch that one next.
@LeoR1010 Verkligen. Jag gick själv på internatskola. Det är mycket som griper tag i mig... ryser, skrattar och har nära till tårar om vartannat.
"Just when you think you know something, you have to look at it in another way."
Yes, I'm watching Dead Poets Society. I'd forgotten how much I love this film.
⚠️ ElonJet musing
It was always in the cards that @elonjet would be thrown out from Twitter. It’s a tiny detail, but in my original Mastodon guide from April, the header image has a blue bird in the top corner, flying a small plane labelled “@elonjet” 😁
My sense is that @elonjet migrating to Mastodon is indicative of a tipping point. Along with all the vitriol and suspensions of journalists they are past a possible recovery.
Now expecting links to my blog with ‘mastodon’ in the url to be banned. 🤞
