The pushing of sales and marketing in the guise of quirky "amateur" and "genuine" videos has definitely increased in my LinkedIn feed.

A box full of workbooks for my workshop at EuroIA: Mostly Harmless – Design for digital with a conscience.
Participants will learn some practical methods for incorporating an ethical mindset and framework in their current design processes.
And through self-reflection they will learn a bit more about themselves.
Exploring digital design for humans. An artifact to promote further discussion.
Avoiding harm and contributing to well-being means respecting and accepting humans as they are, and empowering them to be who they are. For you as a designer this means a willingness to explore many paths to find one that will support a positive outcome for the people you impact. In design there are always many answers to the same question. Just make sure you’re asking the right one.
In this graphic I explore the many ways in which we can ask for gender in a web form, in an attempt to get you thinking about what it means to be usable, accessible, inclusive, sustainable, personal and informed.
#designethics
There are many building blocks in pursuing an ethical approach to design. Here is my current collection of components, each of which I will elaborate on in future writing.
”As we design technology, technology designs us.” Great presentation Pamela!
There was a design opportunity here. Smart home gadgets could support victims of domestic abuse. Instead they are becoming tools that empower abusers. This is what happens when product teams lack diversity and fail to consider potential harm.

From the end of June to the middle of August you may have a hard time reaching people in Sweden. Why? Because we're all on holiday.

Malin Crona med, som vanligen, kloka ord om hur vi någonstans körde av vägen med sociala medier. Jag tror att vi kan hitta tillbaka, men första steget är insikt - vilket Malin bjuder på.

Fantastic news! The brilliant Darja Isaksson becomes director-general for Vinnova - Sweden's government agency for innovation. I have followed Darja's work for many years and I truly believe awesome things will come of this.

Elements of human digitalization. A visualization.
By viewing symbiosis as the inevitable relationship between humans and machines, the ethical challenges can be described within this context in terms of mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, mimicry and co-evolution.
On Tuesday it's time to ✈️ to Lisbon for an intense week of UXLx: User Experience Lisbon. James Royal-Lawson and I will be recording speaker interviews for UX Podcast 🎙.
Always feels like going back to our roots as this was the conference that triggered the very first episode back in 2011.
If you're heading to #uxlx as well and want something to get you in the mood during your travels, here is a playlist with interviews from previous years, and 3 people speaking this year: Alastair Somerville, Dan Brown and Richard Banfield.
Ready to reveal that I will be running a workshop on #designethics at #EuroIA in Dublin in September.
I will use hands-on exercises and use-cases to provide you both with the mindset and toolset for minimizing damage done by design: https://euroia.org/session/mostly-harmless-design-for-digital-with-a-conscience/
Thank you Sue for putting this together!
Introduce yourselves to Zélia!
5 minutes with... Per Axbom. I talk about why I am pushing for ethics in the design industry.
So good from Jane. Compulsory reading.
Sorry, not sorry, for the pun, but you nailed it. 👊
April 18, after work. At this Daresay Digital Agency IxDA event you will hear me talk about how ethics itself can limit our ability to promote positive impact.
Also, very psyched to be sharing the stage with Zélia Sakhi!
