I just backed @stopgenai.com’s new book project.
@fasterandworse.com: Consider supporting @stopgenai.com's Kickstarter campaign for her new book, Recovering After Gen AI, scheduled for October release. Kim has previously published cybersecurity books with O'Reilly and Wiley, but is now self-publishing her Big Tech critical books. www.kickstarter.com/projects/kim...

As it appears, he clapped for 3-4 seconds between speakers while no clock was running for speaking time. His wife was next up to speak and was standing ready at the podium as her spouse was carried out and she burst into tears. "Don't hurt him."
@axbom.com: In 80 years scholars will write essays about how people started being arrested for clapping, and how reactions to this development were timid at best.

My first ever computer program that I wrote in 1982 was autonomous. If I left the computer it would keep printing my name, as if it had a life of its own. As if it was sentient. It never gave up. Thankfully I had a keyboard command to kill it.
This was the whole of it:
10 PRINT "PELLE"
20 GOTO 10
As I know someone will be wondering: it was a Sinclair ZX81 and yes I still have it. 😊
Something to point at when discussing the OpenAI / Hugging Face event. Perhaps useful.

I rather enjoyed the twist(s) of His & Hers. Any suggestions of similar series, or movie even?

In my head the only way forward to remove non-readers here is to initiate a renewed consent, so people have to consent to keep receiving the newsletter 😬 But yeah, that will almost certainly be missed by some legitimate readers.

True. Multiple crime after crime.
Lawmaker response: you really should have a power button that.
*on that
[I really need to remember posting om mu.social so there's an edit button here, haha]
Lawmakers insist that computers should have power buttons after OpenAI used software, that they themselves created, to commit a crime, albeit because they failed to understand and neglected to oversee their own software.
Why do so many fail to see how senseless all this is?

Your Forbes bio has this link for the wiretap newsletter, Thomas, but it gives me a 404.

"A verified account may be safer—and more valuable to someone trying to bypass the safeguard. An industry source says verified under-18 accounts can sell for $5 to $150 depending on their history and access, and marketplaces built around such accounts can be worth tens of thousands of dollars."

After finishing 'Amusing Ourselves to Death' I am now halfway through 'Technopoly'. It, too, is a bloody brilliant read. I'm just now blown away by Chapter 6, The ideology of Machines: Medical technology.
I wish I could post it here in whole.

The chapter is full of these points… aligned with an over-reliance on technology and numbers.
The assertation at time of writing (1992) is that the US was the only Technopoly, but that much of the 'western world' was set to follow.

Quite sure we can replace 'doctors' here with pretty much any profession and their respective practice.
