If you're curious about why and how I have my own domain name as my handle, here is more info on how anyone can set this up:

Love the site radio.garden to listen to live radio around the world. Today I am playing “US election roulette” and tuning in to local radio stations across the US.
I saw people mention a boy who does bird calls and of course I had to look it up.
Like many others I am… floored.

I used to love discovering new software. As a boy in the 80s I subscribed to disks with shareware that came by post.
Today I've tried to find some innovative email software. ALL OF THEM tout AI writing and AI summaries. I really don't want that.
I now hate what *new* software
has become.
If the only way to make a good deal is for someone else to lose a disproportionate amount of money, self-respect or quality of life… then it was never a good deal.
If you're not open to the idea that the problem you are solving for may need something other than a digital solution, then you're not really interested in solving the problem.

It's specifically how the new feature from HeyGen is marketed, where you create a digital twin and it integrates with Zoom.

It takes a special kind of ego to “replicate yourself digitally” with the purpose of participating in 1,000 Zoom meetings at the same time.

Each book I read teaches me something new. I naturally reflect on how insights and learnings fit within my personal, current context. I can read a book again years later and take away something completely different from it, because I am in a different place.
A book summary by AI teaches me nothing.
The reading process is about my thinking blending with the author's thinking. When my own thinking isn't involved, and I'm not participating, the value gets lost.

People do tend to forget that QR codes can also contain code, they’re not just for following links.

This is horrifying but I've definitely heard of it. Thanks for the heads up!
QR codes in public spaces are all at risk of being replaced and used by criminals to steal information and money.
They are also for example used on fake donation campaigns ("scan to send money") , fake marketing material ("scan for a coupon") and even fake parking tickets ("scan to pay your fee").
The video of a fake QR code in a car park is also available in this blog post if you want to share it with people in other forums.

Attention and money is no longer amassed by people who make real, working things but by people who claim the absurd and illogical will soon happen.
This aligns with how Musk is celebrated for making an entrance in a remote-controlled car he claims is self-driving.

“Any study of fascism which centers too narrowly on the fascists and Nazis alone may miss the true significance of right-wing extremism.”
The Britannica page on fascism is a really good primer on the many flavors of fascism.
