@edent.tel: When you block an account on Mastodon, you get a detailed description of what blocking can and *can't* achieve. There's even a "see more" explanation. When you block someone on BSky, there's *no* indication of the limitations. For example, did you know that all your blocks are publicly visible?

@axbom.com: I changed my postal address at my VPS supplier. This sent a confirmation email to me. Which sent my auto-reply about being on sick leave back. Which created a support ticket. Which confused their AI tool, as it emailed to ask what I mean. 😅 Bots will be arguing with each other in perpetuity.

AI apologists keep saying AI will solve the climate crisis. That's self-contradictory. Humankind has known for 50 years what's needed to combat climate change.
Part of that solution is NOT to build things like AI, that lead to energy surges, freshwater shortages and a massive growth of e-waste. 👇
So when AI proponents say AI will solve the climate crisis they are really saying they will find a way to keep destroying the environment, killing off species and triggering extreme weather events without they themselves having to change anything about their lifestyle.

I used to love discovering new software. As a boy in the 80s I subscribed to disks with shareware that came by post.
Today I've tried to find some innovative email software. ALL OF THEM tout AI writing and AI summaries. I really don't want that.
I now hate what *new* software
has become.
If the only way to make a good deal is for someone else to lose a disproportionate amount of money, self-respect or quality of life… then it was never a good deal.
If you're not open to the idea that the problem you are solving for may need something other than a digital solution, then you're not really interested in solving the problem.
