Att ägna en stund åt att tänka på den här effekten är omvälvande.
Mobilförbudet på den här skolan ledde till en halvering(!) av mat som slängdes i soporna.
När barnen är mer närvarande i stunden de inmundigar sin lunch så matchar deras aptit bättre det de lägger på tallriken.
Tänk att vi måste lära barn, och förmodligen många vuxna - och kanske oss själva - att känna efter mer när man äter.
Tänk vad det här säger om att mobilen gör med oss. Jag har tänkt mycket på mental påverkan, men denna direkta koppling till intag av föda hade jag inte reflekterat över.
Vi blir sämre på att ta beslut (och lära oss) när vi äter dåligt. Det är en destruktiv spiral.

@mpk Yes I do gather this is the loophole they are using to make their claim. At the same time, the way the apps can claim end-to-end encryption is by ensuring only the device can read the message before it is sent. So it certainly is a bit of semantical parkour. 😅
The people behind #ChatControl claim that they are not breaking end-to-end encryption. At the same time, private messages on services with end-to-end encryption will be intercepted to uncover crimes.
This means that we have to seriously start talking about the thought experiment Schrödinger's chat. We can safely continue to use chat services that offer secure communication as long as we buy into the premise that the end-to-end encryption is not broken even when each message is available to a third-party service managed by the state. Yep, the secret communication from sender to recipient is both encrypted and unencrypted at the same time.
Or we ask politicians to get their act together and really understand and be honest about the mass surveillance they intend to introduce.

För några månader sedan stötte jag på författaren Wendell Berrys checklista i en essä från 1987, ‘Varför jag inte ska köpa en dator’. Berry redogjorde för kriterier han ansåg måste vara uppfyllda för att han skulle använda ny teknik i sitt arbete. Jag har personligen köpt och använt datorer sedan 1982, men listans utpräglade fokus på nytta och omtänksamhet berörde mig.
Jag har tagit mig friheten att formulera om delar av hans checklista samt adderat till Berrys insikter, med ambitionen att tillhandahålla en lista som funkar för 2020-talet.
