We are approaching times when less and less of what we see should be believed. At least in the traditional sense of belief. I predict a paradigm shift where the concept of trust becomes something else entirely, and listening for harm will be a new skill to master. twitter.com/5u5ancarey/status/1095…
I live in a world where people are non-ironically sharing how good it is to have a treadmill for their standing desk where they work all day in front of a screen.
And I'm confident I do similar stuff without thinking.

I love to listen with the intent to help people understand themselves better, and I love when others do the same for me.

If you ever get the opportunity to teach, do it. Ironically there's no end to the amount of stuff you can learn about yourself and from the students.
Teaching is listening. Listening is teaching.
Thank you Sofie, feedback like this means the world to me.

Coming out of 2 intense weeks teaching ethics in design, I’ve now got so many insights and stories to add to my workshop and keynote at @WIAD_Zuerich! Looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces there. 😍🐼

@BekahHW I feel there are some dangerous assumptions going on here.
1) Introverts are not necessarily shy or ”too scared”.
2) Introverts do not necessarily want to be ”invited in”.
3) There are no universal signs for behavior.
Here’s a good starter: hellogiggles.com/lifestyle/intr…
@BekahHW I say ”dangerous assumptions” because when you assume you know how someone feels, or what they want, that can lead you to act in a way that makes them feel even more uncomfortable. I interpret this tweet as telling others what a person feels and wants in this context.
@BekahHW As I read other responses to this tweet I see that other people have expressed similar concerns with the ”universal sign” aspect of the message. I’m confident the intent is benevolent but I see many ways this can be misinterpreted.

@sonniesedge I totally agree. For a while there I thought we had good thing going when more and more people recognized introversion. But now it seems often used as a synonym for being shy.
Also, I really want to challenge the notion of there being universal signs for behavior...
I am an introvert but not shy. I often want just this, to stand alone and replenish energy on my own terms. If someone asked me to join their group I would feel obligated to do so, even if I did not want to. I enjoy people but I replenish energy alone.
Do not assume shyness. x.com/BekahHW/status…
