"Google knew these women had been tricked, held captive, sexually assaulted and humiliated and were suffering because of the exposure it was causing, but corporate interest dictated total indifference."

With facial recognition on the uprise, it won't matter if you move and change your name in the future. And so the most vulnerable will continue to be the ones who suffer the most.

@DanWatersDesign This is a great question. It does come up now and then and I have plenty of thoughts on it. Excellent idea for an article, thanks.
This is such a bizarre response. Not only is it wrong (it’s not secure) but they are not even supposed to have your password in plain text.
(Read the thread leading to this response.) x.com/virginmedia/st…
It's when doing the work we have time to reflect on the outcome of our work.
When we hand the work to someone else we relieve ourselves of too much thinking about the outcome.
When we automate, time for reflection around outcomes is minimised.
Reflection is vital to ethics.

I have a history of using the lemonade stand as an example :)

@ruchowdh With regards to my own thoughts on the exercise I’ll keep it hush-hush for a bit since I know students follow me here. With regards to the contents of the course I’ve been meaning to share curriculum contents, but I have to translate it from Swedish and been putting it off.
@ruchowdh When people ask me I tend to put it higher in my todo list though :) I know if I share I’ll ge valuable feedback to make it better. I’ll definitely schedule both for blog posts. Still officially not back from my long Swedish holiday 😁

@ptrkhmbrg Cool, tänk vad ouppmärksam man kan vara inför något man inte letar efter.
A local grocery store is selling vinyl records. Had not seen this before. Is this part of a digital tech avoidance trend? Must learn more.

Arguably the e-mail that reaches most people with heartache. x.com/waxpancake/sta…
It’s Saturday morning so I’m working on a concept for HIs (human indicators) to work alongside KPIs (key performance indicators). The idea is that a KPI boost is only seen as valuable if it also boosts a HI (gauging well-being).
Hopefully in a blog post within two weeks.

Working on exercises for my ethics course, I was thinking of allowing students to think of how a lemonade stand could be made as unethical as possible.
In my head it got dark really fast... 😬

@iamdavidobrien Thanks David. It was a spur of the moment half-joke but I also believe there is some painful truth there.
