One common notion when I say I don't have a Facebook account is that it primarily is a statement against harvesting of my data. But I don't really believe I can truly protect my data.

Yesterday I came upon a video of humans torturing animals. I lasted four seconds and felt sick for hours and still wince painfully thinking about it. I can not even imagine what doing that for hours on end every day, as a job, does to a person.

This weekend my son, due to a usability issue, managed to reformat his new cameraâs SD card with 400+ recent photos. He managed to retrieve them using PhotoRec.
Not everyone knows you can retrieve data from formatted media. So just a reminder :)

The usability issue? The camera menu he was in only had two options. It was unclear which option was selected, the one with a light background or the one with a dark background.
He guessed wrong. And there was no second warning.

1) I donât have much of a temper. Except in traffic. I can even scream profanities. My wife finds this very amusing, as I expressed astonishment at her temper when driving before I myself got a license. Now our shared drives are a lesson in perspective shifting. -> a thread.
2) Whenever a car pulls out dangerously close in front of me and I grind my teeth and âeejit!â escapes from my lips, my wife calmly says: âImagine what a bad day that driver may be having.â When she is driving, and becomes equally upset over othersâ carelessness, I do the same.
3) A regular banter occurs where we challenge each other think much further than a 5-second encounter. We talk about illness, distress, being late, and reasons: diverting into workplace culture, parenthood, and chain reactions. We humanize the situation.
4) Allowing myself to accept the complexity of being human opens doors to owning my own reactions. Itâs okay to not like everyoneâs actions but I can also accept them for what they are: actions within a larger context and unknown circumstances. I donât have to judge everything.
5) When someone wants to cut into my lane after speeding past dozens of cars, I more often leave space for them and let them in, without (too much) judgment. Staying calm, cooperating, and chooosing to be helpful makes my day better, and hopefully theirs, and persons around them.
6) Iâd definitely be lying if I said I can reason like this every time. Hardly. But these regular conversations allow me to â in retrospect â more maturely reflect on situations when I fail, increasing chances of success next time.
7) And itâs especially when Iâm on my own that my temper takes a turn for the worse. When I have someone to talk to and reason with I can slowly find my way to a healthier mindset.
8) I think my biggest wish is for everyone to have someone to talk to. Someone who listens. And who also will challenge.
9) Sidenote: I am far from a perfect driver. Obviously, given my outbursts. This always reminds me of the bias exemplified by asking an auditorium how many consider themselves to be a better than average driver. Essentially everyone raises their hand, which should scare us.

I made this remixed image two years ago, based on Swedish artist Karl Jilg's illustration from 2014 commissioned by Sweden's Road Administration.
The image illustrates risks for unprotected road users where cars and humans are mixed. In my modified version I have added modern obstacles in the form of parked electric scooters and placed two more people on the sidewalk, bringing attention to how space is also shared with people with mobility and visual constraints.
A person I follow on Twitter has been campaigning against electric scooters since they first appeared, pointing out the obvious risks. He is blind and recently was in an accident because of a carelessly parked scooter. He was severely injured, including nerve damage to the hand he holds his cane with. Beyond the upcoming operation he now requires physiotherapy for his hand once per hour(!).

Cars continue to hold their vast ownership of public space, and the small space left for unprotected road users is becoming increasingly more dangerous.
Mackan, who is blind, severely injured (also in the hand he holds his cane with) because people park electric scooters in pathways that are supposed to be free from clutter.
