I've noticed a small wave of new people making their way to Mastodon from the birdsite.
Here is my brief Mastodon guide for social media worriers that may prove useful for making yourself more at home.
This is a concerning chart, showing number of reported “close friends” in decline between 1990 and 2021.
Would really like to see or explore more research into the concept of close friends and how this has changed over the past decades along with the reinvention of the word “friend” by Facebook.

I'm not a fan of the Medium algorithm either, but it may be valuable to know you can subscribe to people and topics as RSS feeds. No need to miss your favorite authors at the same time as you definitely don't need the Medium app.
