You may have seen it written about, but the whole segment where DJT admits to talking to FIFA about the red card is wild.

I've been seeing lots of people post about the nursing home in the Netherlands that placed decals of dementia patient's old homes on the doors to their rooms, to make them feel at home. But no posts with sources.

The original Netherlands story is about 10 years old. Today, this is no longer about a single nursing home in the Netherlands but about many, many nursing homes across the world. The most well-known company making these stickers is called True Doors, and they are based out of the Netherlands but also operate internationally. And the benefits of the door decals are much bigger than any of the "designed to go viral" posts reveal.

The decals are not only for helping patients with dementia, they're about transforming impersonal hallways and all the positive effects of this. I think if you've ever walked down a hospital corridor, or even a school corridor, you can relate to this.

So yes, they stimulate reminiscence, but also:

* It's obviously much easier to find your own door when they don't all look the same. The whole space becomes familiar, rather than anonymous. More like a neighborhood.

* It's also much easier for staff and visitors to find the right door.

* For staff, the workplace becomes much more welcoming.

* Patients/residents often get to choose their own door from a big catalog. This is more common than replicating a past door, something the viral posts imply. It's more often about being given a chance to express yourself, and creating a sense of ownership, and pride!

* According to one supervisor: adjustment to moving to assisted living goes from 4-6 weeks to 1-2 weeks with a "true door".

The video clips I've attached are from the True Doors many community videos from various installations. Watch and read more stories here: https://www.truedoors.com/community

You may be having a bad day but midfielder Jordan Henderson got a yellow card during the Mexico-England game, was later carried out on a stretcher with a broken wrist, surgery required, unable to celebrate with his team, and the world cup over for him.

Oh, and he DID NOT PLAY A SECOND in the game.

@alice @dotjayne The female symbol on its side, ’lying down’, under the male symbol gave me domestic abuse connotations. Terrifying.

The whole segment where Trump admits to talking to FIFA about the red card is wild. I do avoid watching clips with DJT but seeing this just yet again confirms how far into the fog he is. And yet he’s allowed to keep going and news outlets keep reporting as if he’s saying something coherent. The smiling, nodding heads behind him add to the creepiness.

😁 I remember it being given to me for free. But I can't remember the circumstances. It was part of a "business card site" deal many years ago.

I believe you're right. It's actually not. a good look in many cases, and the .us domain name not being more prominent is fascinating.

@leffe Du fick mig att börja planera en migrering som legat i bakhuvudet länge… 😅

Bättre tidigare än senare såklart. Men det är lite surt att Fediverse inte tillåter att man behåller sina inlägg vid migrering.

When people see the top domain .ai these days, they of course think of it as a web address related to artificial intelligence. But .ai is a country domain just like .se, .de, .fr and so on. In this case it’s the Caribbean island of Anguilla that hit the jackpot.

With a population of around 16,000 and domain names being bought for $1.2 million (bot dot ai, for example), the AI ”boom” is hugely lucrative for the small territory. I think about it every time I see a .ai domain name.

Their capital, poetically, is ”The Valley”. The island is just 26 kilometers long and 6 kilometres across, and its shape is what is said to have given the island its name, Anguilla meaning eel in Italian. Before colonisation, though, the Indigenous Arawakan name for the island was Malliouhana, meaning arrow-headed sea serpent.

Good numbers! Yeah, the boring part is also what many people need help with. I've been running Cloudron for some years now to assist me with running all my apps and it's been an eye-opener. Just need to boost usability to "leave-it-alone-and-trust-it" levels 😅

Dreaming of inventing a hardware device that people can buy, start up and will run a server that can host your web presence in the form of a personal fedi instance, a ATProto PDS, a Ghost blog, document management, maybe even email and more, on a custom domain. A pre-installed plug-and-play VPS.

True, they control the Bluesky app and infrastructure (and relay). And they could block me. But they can't touch my data. And if they block me my data is safe and I can still log into other at proto apps.

if Bluesky dies my data lives on, including all posts and connections.

If I am on mastodon.social and that service dies, my posts and connections are gone. If I migrate from one instance to another in the Fediverse, my posts are gone and so is my username.

The potential of ATProto is intriguing.

After moving to Eurosky I've realised the logical next step is to run my very own personal data server, giving me even more independence and control over my own data.

Reading this post from @brent.atproto.bront.rodeo and it seems ridiculously easy.
