In the left image the Swedish artist Karl Jilg illustrates the risks of unprotected road users where cars and humans are mixed. Humans have a hard time understanding risk of speed but understand risks of height more easily.
In the right image I have added the types of obstacles that pedestrians further have to struggle with in modern day (carelessly parked e-scooters). There are also two individuals added, bringing to attention that this space is shared with people with mobility and visual constraints... by extension of course also people with auditory and sensory constraints. These people are further put in harms way by modern obstacles in their path.
Please, let's be more responsible with the little safe space we have in city traffic.
