Your perception of the size of Africa is most probably completely wrong. Blame all the world maps you've been looking at.

I was looking at the world map on Google and realized how utterly misleading it is. I kind of knew it was wrong, but haven't really taken in how devastatingly wrong it portrays sizes. For example, Tanzania looks tiny next to Sweden although it is more than twice the size.

In fact, I believe most Swedes think our country is much bigger than it is, given that it is disproportionately large on world maps.
