It’s been 50 days since our general election in Sweden and we still have no new government*
*Obviously the incumbent government is continuing as caretaker government, with limited activities.

I believe this is happening too fast now.

"After all, we didn’t ask those algorithms what the best decision would have been. We only asked them to predict which decisions the humans in its training data would have made."
The saying, "be careful what you wish for" is glaringly relevant for AI.

I just wrote a three-paragraph response to a LinkedIn post. And then deleted it before posting. I'm slowly getting better at realizing I don't need to defend some subjects all the time. It's okay to take a deep breath and move on.
Optimize a broken system and it is still broken.

Anything that can be misunderstood will be misunderstood to the power of h8 on Twitter.
If only you knew what mess the adoption of Halloween means in Sweden. Some know it's Oct 31, some think it's All Saint's Eve, which in Sweden is always a Friday. Some think on All Saint's Day.
Which means trick-or-treaters basically come all week (it's also autumn break)!!

@catthu The only way we could ensure this level of privacy is if the operating systems built these tiers of access into core functionality. Why do you think they do not?
I would like to see it as an oversight, but the app store concept was launched 10 years ago.
This captures my emotions on Riverdale so well I now know I need to set aside time for Sabrina. Thank you @asarahlarson. I think 😁

Oh hell yeah. Dex meets Matt Murdock. If you know what I'm talking about you know what I'm talking about. 👊

@beantin @patrikmalmberg Both are to blame. I can tolerate some short-sightedness, but once it’s glaringly obvious how much of a privacy invasion this is (which was years ago) they should be responding to fix that.
The longer this goes on the more regulation will come, which also can be good or bad.
Please watch until the end.
For educational purposes:
When apps ask for access to your entire photo library they are not asking for access to the pic you are uploading. They are asking for access to your entire photo library, which includes geotags, faces, and timestamps.
It’s a dataset, not just photos.
I’m not saying all apps use this data but the binary trait of photo access is a privacy issue. Apple made it slightly better in iOS 11 with the option of write-only access, but we still have a long way to go for privacy by design here.
The conference website is live and I can reveal that in a few weeks I will be heading to Manaus in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. I will be doing a talk at the conference, as well as a workshop at one of the Samsung R&D institutes in Brazil, SIDIA. Both will be around the topic of design ethics and a design process to maximize positive impact.
Check out the website for Feira do Polo Digital de Manaus here: http://www.feiradopolodigitaldemanaus.com.br
I will obviously keep a social media diary for this trip :)

Succinct and thoughtful analysis of the importance of getting paid for your primary product. And what this has meant for the state that journalism finds itself in today.
