I was 19 when I first heard about Lorena Bobbitt. Reading her story almost 26 years later made me reflect on
* how laws and norms change
* how my perception of events is controlled by others vs. myself
* the sanctioned violence of men

@beantin Yeah, the default will be prevalent, but power users may be extra happy :) Thinking now that may actually be better as a browser setting... an override of sorts. And of course it's been written about 😁 ilovefreesoftware.com/15/tutorial/fo…

@alundbergh Listening to this now. Scary stuff.

@beantin True! For tools my thinking now would be that there preferably is a personal setting for this (since I'm always logged in with tools).

If you're designing a website for me (which I know you usually aren't) then please do not open links in new windows/tabs. I myself want to be in charge of that decision. Thanks 🙏
We are approaching times when less and less of what we see should be believed. At least in the traditional sense of belief. I predict a paradigm shift where the concept of trust becomes something else entirely, and listening for harm will be a new skill to master. twitter.com/5u5ancarey/status/1095…
I live in a world where people are non-ironically sharing how good it is to have a treadmill for their standing desk where they work all day in front of a screen.
And I'm confident I do similar stuff without thinking.

I love to listen with the intent to help people understand themselves better, and I love when others do the same for me.

If you ever get the opportunity to teach, do it. Ironically there's no end to the amount of stuff you can learn about yourself and from the students.
Teaching is listening. Listening is teaching.
Thank you Sofie, feedback like this means the world to me.

@BekahHW I feel there are some dangerous assumptions going on here.
1) Introverts are not necessarily shy or ”too scared”.
2) Introverts do not necessarily want to be ”invited in”.
3) There are no universal signs for behavior.
Here’s a good starter: hellogiggles.com/lifestyle/intr…
@BekahHW I say ”dangerous assumptions” because when you assume you know how someone feels, or what they want, that can lead you to act in a way that makes them feel even more uncomfortable. I interpret this tweet as telling others what a person feels and wants in this context.
@BekahHW As I read other responses to this tweet I see that other people have expressed similar concerns with the ”universal sign” aspect of the message. I’m confident the intent is benevolent but I see many ways this can be misinterpreted.
